  • Also nice but the Ben Sherman one is only £85 and the shop's about 5 minutes from my work.

Once I knew it was called a Harrington it seems that every company does them!

  • I'll still be able to use an Allen key brake won't I, isn't there some kind of curved washer that the recessed nut can fit through?

I've only ever seen them in 6mm ID for nutted brakes, you'd need 8mm ID to fit a tube nut through.

  • Does anywhere online sell topeak transformers?

Also what would be stiffer 7710s or omniums?

  • I've got some Omniums for sale, so Omniums.

  • Electronic Drum Kit recommendations

As you said, the best Roland or Yamaha you can afford as they're expandable. I would go second hand.

  • There was a decent make one in the BHF on Leytonstone High Road. I wanted to buy it.

  • simmons or gtf

  • Nope, no tartan and better for it in my book!

    I don't have one - wouldn't mind, but can't afford.

  • I've one of these which was easy to set up. Range is average. http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00794RDVY/

  • what would be stiffer 7710s or omniums?

Probably Omnomnomnoms, but only because they use so much more metal. The 7710s are almost certainly stiffer per unit mass.

  • Looks like I'm a little late but lights4fun (who are classier than they sound) have an Outdoor Battery Operated category and the obligatory Christmas category. These look good: http://www.lights4fun.co.uk/i/q/141996-YW/96-warm-white-led-outdoor-battery-fairy-lights-with-timer

  • Hello all,

I have bought this headset for my latest build:
    http://static.jensonusa.com/images/Default-Image/Zoom/972/HS266A00.jpg

As per the sketch below, when the headset is assembled (not on the steered, out of the box) part 5 fits perfectly into part 6, and the underside of both these parts are flush with each other, and together they press onto the the upper race and upper bearing to adjust play in the steering.

BUT when this is installed onto the fork steerer, the conical assembly of the part into the part 6 doesn't allow to go all the way (the compressing ring locks onto the steerer before going all the way into the upper bearing cover). As a result, you can't adjust the headset... Only way to make it work is to remove completely the compressing ring from the whole assembly... but in doing so, the upper bearing cover isn't in contact with the steerer all the way up, and this is I presume quite bad mechanically and will prematurely damage the headset...
I considered shaving the bottom excess of the compressing ring, but if someone has a better idea (beside buying another headset, no more money for this project)
    Thanks!

  • AFAIK the tapered compressing ring should be upside down into the upper race.

Stupid question ahead, but have you check the manual?

  • 5 looks upside-down to me too.

Yes, being a brand new item, it came with full instructions and unless they have provided with the wrong compressing ring, I've done every thing in the right order.

The link you posted is exactly identical to the instructions provided with the headset

  • 5 looks upside-down to me too.

Unfortunately, it doesn't fit either in the other direction, it's actually worst... I tried it all...

  • You've not mixed up the compression ring or upper race and the crown race?

  • Regarding this, is it possible that you mix the upper race with the crown?

  • You've not mixed up the compression ring or upper race and the crown race?

When you have the parts in your hands you can definitely tell that I have not... but, for the sake of it, and because I was stuck, I tried to inverse them and it does not work either... I'll try again tonight.

  • You don't work for Foffa do you?

  • Pictures would probably help.

  • Thinking about it, the crown race is like any other crown race, strong steel stuff, when the upper race is a alloy part, which is split to fit around the steerer and allows to center the bearing... That would definitely not work trying to use that as a crown race...

  • You don't work for Foffa do you?

    You hurt my feelings

  • Pictures would probably help.

Will carry on trying and take pictures...

  • It's no good, time to replace with a @Dammit Talbot.
