Discarded banana skins still look like litter though.
-
• #61928
Even so, I can't help but think that a banana skin properly hurled into the base of a hedgerow somewhere is better for the planet overall than one put in a litter bin and sent to landfill. I have no evidence to support this though.

This. Imagine what the hedgerows of Surrey and Kent would look like if every cyclist did it :(

That's why I wrap the banana skin in plastic before I throw it to the side of the road. It keeps it tidier.
-
• #61931
Throw them over the hedgerows into the front garden.
-
• #61932
Or save them to dispatch of an annoying wheelsucker Mario Kart style.
-
• #61933
Just HTFU and eat them.

• #61934
I de-skin my bananas before each ride to save weight anyway.
-
• #61935
a quick pre ride crank?

• #61936
Bananas are wrong.
-
• #61937
It's never quick :(

And your banana is severely peeled?

Anyone have a pmp seatpost?
I have one of these and need to know what torque I need to apply to the bolts. Mine is all clicky and I have foolishly thrown my instructions away. -
• #61942
Quarter turn tighter than they are now.
-
• #61943
Same again until the clicking has fucked off.
-
• #61944
I've been doing that for a worryingly long time...

Building a bike from bin parts:
Can I use a long cage rear mech on a road bike (7 speed cassette, two chainrings)?
It's all I've got, and it's a good one, would be a shame not to use it...
-
• #61946
As long as you're willing to suffer the barbs of forumengers.
-
• #61947
Maybe the clicking doesn't come from the seatpost itself but from the seatpost clamp?
That was the issue on my cheap bike. shimming the seatpost with the old soda-can trick helped. -
• #61948
Maybe the bit where the clamp is bonded to the post is fucked.
-
• #61949
Cover everything in grease and see if that helps.
-

Slipping seatpost incoming...
Edit: for this post to be actually helpful:
cover everything in grease except the seatpost/seattube interface. Cover that in carbon paste instead.
I heard banana skins take 6 months to decompose but I suspect that's not true.
