Aren't stronglight cranks better quality?
Which ones in particular? I'd be inclined to say no, unless they have launched some impressive new product I haven't heard about.
Sorry meant chain rings, cheaper for better quality than the shimano.

Hmm. Cheaper, lighter, maybe better surface finishing (CT2 versions), but I'm not sure that anybody seriously claims that they shift better than the OE Shimano ones.

Replacing worn shimano rings with new stronglight rings makes better shifting ;)

Depends how worn the Shimano ones are :-)

Right - I need to rotaunfix a stuck sprocket on an old track wheelset of mine.
I had a quick go last night with the bike upside down on the floor and my foot on the frame to keep it down and put a bit of wellie into it but no joy. The wheel was without rubber so that limited the amount of force I could put through it.
Even without rubber though It felt like I was close to breaking something - like the saddle.
Realistically...how much force can I put through it before something goes pop? Are there any tricks that limit the chances of snapped saddles / bars / stressed steerers?
Had a go in the workstand but just felt like I was killing the stand.

There's no need to rotafix anything, just get a decent chain whip and a length of tube to fit over it to make the handle longer than the wheel radius. To eliminate any chance of slippage, ensure that the chain on your whip goes at least slightly more than once round the sprocket, so it acts like a strap wrench.

Yeah I could just do that. Who has a quality track chainwip they can lend me? I'm reluctant to shell out for one as my other wheelsets use splined carriers so it would be a single use thing.
I guess I'd also need muscle to hold the wheel down too, or is there a trick to that? Note - I'm a 60kg weakling.

There's a trick. Wedge the wheel into the corner of floor and wall, and arrange things such that the push you're applying to the chain whip handle is directed towards the apex of that corner. That way, the reaction to your puny efforts is wedging the wheel further into the corner, adding to the tyre friction which is stopping it from rotating.
Also, buy a chain whip - you're going to need it when you want to take those shitty splined sprocket carriers off your hub threads.

Awww I like the splined jobbies. Have both the Miche and WI variants. You learn to check the lockring from time to time.
Guess I'll add them to the disapproves thread.

Well, less "instructions" more "how does the card need to be formatted" "what colour will the light go when it is charged" etc.
Fat32 works. I just changed mine overnight. -

The Miche ones are shit because they are threaded onto a standard hub, thus keeping all the problems of sprocket threads and introducing the usual poor Miche quality. The WI ones are the correct response to the problems of transmitting torque through threads.

Went to a restarant / bar in central on saturday night and ordered two beers. Came out as £9 . Checked my receipts today and they charged me £90. Me being the idiot that I am just put my pin number in without checking the amount being charged. What are the chances they will give my money back? Not open yet so will have to wait until the evening before I unleash.

If it's a credit card, make a charge back.
If it's a differs card, write to them, tell them that you will give them a week to refund your card, and or you will then start the MCOL process.

Yeah was a debit card unfortunately. I feel like such a jackass

Don't you worry too much. People make mistakes. Could be the barman's, could be your's, but I bet they won't make too big a deal about it. I once almost made a man pay €600 in stead of €60. Lucky he saw it just before he hit the OK button! Ofc I felt really fucking bad about it even though the guest totally understood it was a simple mistake.

What are my options for 29er rims that are wider than 30mm?
I wanted to get some Sun Ringle MTX33
But sadly they're only available in the US now.
I also found the h plus son todestrieb:
But thats as expensive as importing the MTX 33s

• #60646
I'd be wary about rims whose name translates as "death drive"!

• #60647
Its because they're super metal \m/
