  • Exactly what I was thinking but couldn't think of a joke about it. Well played.

  • ceeway barrel adjusters that donhou sells for £12

    http://shop.donhoubicycles.com/product/barrel-adjusters

    Ta!

  • Has anyone used cycling glasses with interchangable lenses where the lens attaches via little protrusions on the outside edges? Mine bend and a few have broken from changing lenses. Is there anything that can be done here - seems a pretty crap feature.

  • Non prescription sunglasses are hardly expensive, just get another set.

No sympathy for you here as we in the myopic fraternity have to fork out £150+ for a pair of sports sunglasses.

  • Eh? I am talking about a £150+ pair of sports sunglasses.

  • My Oakley's were fine.. before i left them in a bag at a convention and lost them

  • I think hes saying, why spend £150 on a pair of shit sports sunglasses that break when you could go to aldi and get cheap sports sunglasses that also break for £5.

That poor fella NEEDS to spend £150 on sunglasses coz he has bad eyes.

  • My bads

  • Yeah something like that.

If you were to get prescription oakleys or something, it would be like £300+

I was talking about the equivalent of £5 aldi glasses with prescription inserts, about £150.

Go enjoy the £5 aldi sort, or the £30 Altura/affordable bike brand sort. Or even top end branded stuff. Its all dirt cheap compared to if you need prescription.

  • That would be my guess just from looking at the picture, but some of those facing plates have M3 threads.

    As I'm a tart, I'd get A4 grade Torx from http://www.accuscrews.co.uk/32-hexalobular-countersunk-screws, £2/£3 per 100 plus VAT & shipping

Cheers everyone. Bought some M3 x 6mm and M4 x 6mm to cover all bases from eBay as they are super cheap.

Yeah, I have 2 sets of the lenses for a Bloc frame I lost/broke.

Gave up in the end and went for something more regular - they didn't do a polarised lens for the interchangeable one anyway.

Also, £150? Say what? These were more like £50 and I still thought they were pricey.

  • I have to record an interview but I'm also super skint. The audio quality doesn't have to be amazing but definitely better than an inbuilt mic on a dslr.

Any suggestions, something Chinese and from ebay perhaps or something decent and secondhand? Not got a clue where to start with brands/types at all

  • Do you have a smartphone?

  • Fraid not.

Can listen to the radio though!

  • Q - What's the best (easy but unlikely to cause damage) way to transport n+1* bikes in the back of a van that contains all my worldly possessions and is being driven by me, i.e. badly?

I've not really got any decent way to secure them, probably can find enough blankets etc, and maybe some duct tape to the nearest solid object I thought. leave wheels on to give better protection to derailleurs? None of this is at all expensive but I'd be pissed off it it were all indra'd at the end.

Also if anything needs anything big moved between E1 and new cross/beckenham areas tomorrow, I'm probably going to be doing a couple of hops. Might even take the van to SEs!

    *In this case, n = 1 :(

  • Moving to Beckenham? Soul turned up on a moped last week, the descent has begun.
Just wedge the bikes in place with other items and hope for the best?

  • It's my parent's, so in a way I was already there, and ran away East. Going back East after summer so it's a temporary sojourn to suburbia.

Wedge sounds dodgy, but is currently "best" and only option. If I can find a gap that's roughly bike sized with them lying down maybe that's best, stop them sliding about too much...

  • Best new 7 speed chain?

    Well all the dslr video crowd swear by rode video mics. They are fancy and sort of industry standard. But affordable and a useful piece of kit to have;

I have this you could have for free. Not sure if the quality is better than the in-built mic on a dslr, but this got my throught my uni days with recording lectures, mind you, I used to have to leave it by the lecturer's desk, but it's old technology... You could probably pair this up, or even your camera with a cheap external mic from maplin or somthing. If it's just an interview(s) and you only want to record it to listen back later, either would do. If you want to buy a new one,or whatever, have a look at some of the newer olympus recorders, I use a DM-5 for interviews and stuff these days, it's one of their top ones, but have a look at similar ones to this model but with smaller storage / lower specs, they don't cost that much.

But if you want mine, the offer is there.

  • whats the shittest April fools you heard today?

  • You.
