True, but they would reduce the number of trashed frames.
Apart perhaps from cost, I can't think of any disadvantages.

Is their a less pricey similar product to the Rapha Essentials Case?
I'm tired of my sandwich bag and looking for one of these too. Was going to ask jtrent90 on here (does the bigxtop bags) for something custom once I'd worked out exactly what I wanted.

They were very cheap at the sample sales a few years ago.
3 for £20 IIRC. Now wishing I hadn't passed two on to other people. Or that I'd bought another 3.

Does anybody have a 31.6mm inline seatpost I could borrow for a couple of days so that I can check if I even need to buy one or not? Having bikefit* woes.
*if all the people who are preparing a post telling me to go and see Scherrit could just set themselves on fire - before hitting the post submit button - that would be great

Sometimes a dérailleur in the spokes trashes the frame even when there is a breakaway hanger
Another good reason to always race with a disc.
In my case, inspection after the event revealed that one of the links of the chain had it's outer plate half popped off. I don't know if this was the cause of the chain getting stuck in the derailleur or if it was caused by everything seizing and twisting suddenly but whatever. Whatever happened... irritating doesn't even begin to cover it.
-
• #57785
^I've had a chain do that before, thankfully in my case the other plate just snapped at some point from the strain and no damage was done, but I presume it's error in installation/shortening?
-

With modern dérailleur chains, it doesn't take much force to push the outer plate over the pin*. A succession of bad changes can do it, by forcing opposing out plates apart. There doesn't have to be any installation error, or any manufacturing error, but without those it probably takes a user error in trying to get more life out of the chain than it's designed for. All the classical advice applies; keep your chain clean, never reuse rivets and replace frequently. You can still be unlucky, but you should at least improve your odds.
- with pin lengths now down to as little as 5.5mm for 11-speed, and roller width at 2.2mm, that leaves just 3.3mm for four plates plus the working clearances required to make a flexible chain. It is the marvel of the age that they can make 230 plates just 0.8mm thick with holes so precise that they will reliably grip a 3mm diameter pin, and all for about £20 retail.

How long established or how commonly used does a loanword have to get before one drops original "foreign" spelling?
These sorts of questions are an issue since we haven't followed the French in establishing an official "boss of deciding how everyone else should speak".
You rarely see the accent circumflex in role, or deja vu, for example. Nor, in most cases, the acute in derailleur.

Also the word "naive" in English hasn't been spelled with an " ï " for a long time. Defer to the dictionary, or whatever style guide you adhere to. The Guardian one is freely accessible online: http://www.theguardian.com/guardian-observer-style-guide-a

Ewan, do the current cervelos also have replaceable mech hangers? I would consider whether or not you want to gamble a whole frame again if they dont...

The Economist style guide is popular as well, and they have less of a poor reputation for proofreading errors... but there are aspects of both I don't like.

Hah. Their ropey proofreading doesn't diminish the quality of the advice. Though their policy of not using accents on capital letters is daft (think they might have changed that now).
It doesn't really matter which style guide you choose to use as long as you're consistent.

when learning french we were taught that you never put accents (acute, etc) on capital letters. An example given of a word which ended "...EEE"

No time at all. Only pretentious wankers keep using accents in common English words of foreign origin :-)
Serious answer:
It's probably time to drop the accents once you also drop the italicisation used to indicate insertion of foreign words into English sentences. So the first time you see it, déjà-vu, but once you start getting the sense that you've seen it before it's OK to refer to deja vu. -

At least they're self-aware pretentious wankers.
