Got an email. Flying into Geneva, staying/skiing in France.
Another thrilling update. I now know we're going to Abondance. This information means very little to me.
Is it nice?

^^ Why do you need to know if the chain will cope with 50-32? Are you some sort of cross-chaining heathen?

I've ridden through it twice, looks very picturesque but isn't very big. No idea what the skiing is like but it's close to resorts like Morzine which I think is pretty good.

I know how to work out chain length on the bike, I want to calculate it before I install parts to ensure I have enough chain.
Could you just put an old chain on it, adjust it to length then take it off and measure or count the links ?

Everyone cross chains occasionally by accident. So it's to make sure if I am an idiot I don't throw the rear mech into my wheel.

I never cross-chain.*
*That would involve me using the big ring.

Out of contract wit Bt* as last. Any recommendations for getting broadband? Someone that hasn't signed up to the governments watch list preferably.
*had to use them as we needed a line installed into our property.

I know how to work out chain length on the bike, I want to calculate it before I install parts to ensure I have enough chain. It's just when I set up 50/34 with an 11-28 cassette it used a whole chain, except one link. My concern is that the extra wrap would need more chain.
Chains can be different lengths though. You commonly get 114, 116 and 120-link chains for 10/11 speed road groups.
Chainstay length is a factor in overall chain length required so it's not that simple to calculate. Surprises me a bit that you nearly ran out of chain with 50-28 + 1 link - I've got my road bike set up with 53-27 + 1 link and I had at least two or three links left over from a 10sp Ultegra chain.

I can't help but feel that this trip is somewhat wasted on me.
Anyone here 6'2", bearded (or can grow one by tomorrow), balding, with terrible social skills and a free weekend fancy going to France? Northern Irish accent is preferred but not essential.

How many ice creams can you eat before tomorrow to "amend" your body mass index?

Typed out again, so wish me luck.
Has anyone had a cut throat shave from the trainees at either the london school of barbering on Drury Lane or Total barbers on Leonard Street.
Was thinking of getting a head cut throat shave of my head and face trim.

What song has an intro that sounds like a xylophone then a single word possibly 'shout'? Maybe by beastie boys or someone like that?

This came recommended on another thread:

(Actually, I just noticed that MrDrem recommended zen.co.uk, too.)
Disclaimer: I don't know anything about them, but A&A certainly looks attractive.
I'm quite happy with the Phone Co-op, but I don't know anything about their politics with respect to ISP-level filtering (haven't bothered to check).

What is the diameter of the down tube of a Histogram Mash?
I'm going to strap on a bottle cage, but would prefer it on the down tube rather than the seat tube and I'm wondering what length Jubilee clips to get.
I would measure myself but I'm at work and want to order them today.

I was not aware that there were different lengths of seat posts. So my old seat post is 7.8 inches and my new carbon seat post is 14.2 inches. Is it safe to cut off a piece of the bottom of the carbon seat post? I'm not able to get it that far into the frame. It's my first carbon part so I don't know anything about that and my LBS doesn't do much with carbon. LBS has a cutter that he uses for handlebars etc. Not a saw but a sort of device that goes around it with a thing that looks like a pizza cutter inside.

It is the commuto x bike, I am often carrying 10-15kgs if extra crap in panniers.
