  • It's a mens! I just found it on google images.

  • ^ & ^^

But neither of those are cycling specific.

The former is high-waisted for bumming Unicorns; the latter for wanking Alsatians: paws in pockets, no?

  • I'm going to the US on Thursday but can't find my paper driving license part.
Do you need it to rent a car, or will the photocard suffice?

  • ^ i needed both when i went in june

  • I have a Rab waterproof, pretty sure it's mens/unisex but it also has a drawstring at the waist. Pretty useful for keeping draughts out, or just keeping it from flapping about in the wind. It also makes me feel fabulous.

  • That is ssssuch a Carrie thing to say.

  • Is there a tester-approved 1 inch threaded headset? Ideally with plenty of stack height. I'm currently looking at this Tifosi, which comes either with ball or needle bearings, or the Stronglight A9 with cartridge (ie, sealed ball right?) bearings.

Anybody got any experience of those?

  • You can add stack height to any conventional headset with spacers between lock nut and upper cup.

A good initial installation and proper maintenance will see a basic Tange headset work just as well, and for as long, as one costing £100

Tange Levin would be my choice on a low budget, Cane Creek 110 or Chris King if you have money to burn.

  • Does the term "handlebar moustache" precede the term "moustache handlebar" or is it the other way around?

Always puts a simile on my face pondering that one.

  • is a simile similiar to a smile like an upturned handlebar moustache?

  • Q
anyone know where i can pick one of these up tomorrow?

  • thanks a lot Mr T. you're not convinced of the advantages of needle bearings then?

  • Help needed from anyone who is good with English punctuation. Can I replace "for example" or "for instance" with a colon : ? Writing a statement for a job app and it just doesn't really very nicely with one too many for example / for instance. So wonder if I could replace those with a simple :

    So from this:
"I analyse any problem... autonomy and the expected outcome. For example, I was assigned to..."

    To this:
I analyse any problem... autonomy and the expected outcome***: ***I was assigned to..."

    Thanks

Not for headsets. Balls do a better job of coping with the mix of axial and radial loads in the available space.

I'd just use a full stop, personally, but depending on how short your sentences are it could be slightly abrupt. If you've got dozens of "for example, I did X"s, you can change some of them to "when X event occured, I did Y", or "during my time at X, I did Z" to make it flow a little more naturally.

  • ^ That's a good idea, I shall give it a go. This is doing my head in as I know the boss really well and either of us can take anything from granted... never in my life had I spent more than a few evenings in doing a job app, this has taken 2 weeks already...

You can use colons, but like bothwell, I would probably opt for fullstops and slightly more creative sentences, such as "I was able to show this when...", "When given the opportunity at _ _ _ I demonstrated..." or "My role at _ _ _ enabled me to..."

Having said that, if you don't have a lot of space but do have lots of examples to give, keeping the sentences succinct may be better.

Just don't use 'eg' or 'ie' whatever you do!

When does it need to be submitted by? I would offer to read and comment on it for you but am going to be tied up for a while.

  • ^ Hopefully not literally.

  • tomorrow... thanks for the offer Miss Mouse, I have had some great help from work as it's an internal thing, so everyone is behind me. Like, the job is mine if I tick all the boxes, but if a super cool person comes along, it could be his... I am just obsessing with fine details.

I would love to and in fact have done a very well written essay type statement, but the total word count was around 2700, I have managed to cut it down to about 2000, so some of the sentences are quite abrupt...

There are 32 points in total in the personal specs I have to address, so I guess 2000 words isn't too bad? I was tasked to cut it down to 1500 by a career advisor, but unless I use singular words and short phases, I just cannot.

  • Anyone know what time the tour of Britain departs tomorrow?

  • I might need somewhere to stay in cirencester on the night of the 21st sept, anyone here live there? Floor would be fine. There seems to be no couchsurfers there.
