  • ^notes looks good, but wrong end of strand. though it is a nice day for a walk.

They do excellent coffee too, that's all I know that's nearer to where you're at.

  • Just had my chain jump off on the same road (A40 shared pavement, which rumbly as fuck) for the second time in the place chain has twisted itself and I managed to bodge it together nd pootle to the station.

I'm paranoid about loosening as I have no chain tugs with a long enough thread so am alway checking.

Is it too losse if the vibrations shaked the bastard off? Its got to have that tiny bit of flex when you apply pressure right?

  • It shouldn't come off that readily, what were you using to tighten the wheel with?

  • Yes. The chain shouldn't be able to come off unless you force it off. Some people say 1/2" up/down movement on the stretch between the sprocket and the chainring is about right.

    You don't need chaintugs.

  • Ok so I have a rotor track chainring and it say 'NoQ' but when the cranks at TDC and BDC the chain is more slack than when they are horizontal, it has always been like this and was new when I got it, is it possible that it was a wrongly labeled elliptical ring?

I've never had a chainring that didn't do that just a little bit.

Cheap, expensive, all different brands. They seem to vary a bit, but never perfectly round ime.

Or maybe it was your awesome power that deformed it?

  • Blackspire are good for being centred, cheapish too. Not 1/8" though. Sugino are also good.
TA were awful a few years ago, don't know if they've improved.

  • I've not checked with any degree of effort, but I don't think my Goldtec ring is perfectly circular.

  • Blackspire are good for being centred

Blackspire are one of the better ones I've used. The downhill rings as well as the mono veloce ones. They seem to last a while too.

I'm using some Gebhardt ones at the moment. Seem pretty good so far.

I must stop stealing buying components out of the factory reject bins.

  • @scob
    Large Adjustable

Why should I not get tugs. Peace of mind in my opinion

  • If tugs are offered then go for it, not sure I'd pay for a tug though.

  • Filth.

  • Filth.

Now that, he would pay for.

  • Handsomely.

  • I can't rep him anymore
    Tug?

  • Please.

  • My Goldtec 104bcd ring seems fine and round on the polo bike (proper track ends).

  • Is it possible to buy an ultegra di2 time trial groupset in the uk yet..?

And could you add tt pods to a clip on bar on the road groupset..?

  • While I'm at it, is this gap right?

  • To the crank arm? Don't know without more info.

  • Yep, I only noticed it earlier and it won't go any further the other (drive) side is snug though?

  • I have some cranks that are like that. Just the way they're made, some have a gap and some don't.

  • Good, thanks.

  • Can you show us a picture of your chain line? I'd hazard a guess that it's horribly out as you are using the outer of a triple...

Might not be, but that's my guess.
