    Jim.

  • I wonder if the Foreign Office might let you, with permission? It's amazing in there.
What about Canary Wharf tube station after hours?
    Or Abbey Mills pumping station?
The church in Ely Place, it has a lovely stained glass window.
St Pancras, and it's associated hotel.
The courtyard of the old Prudential building at 140 Holborn.
    The Rivoli Ballroom in Brockley

  • ^ Churches, cathedrals might be a good shout. From personal experience the people that run some of the Wren churches in the city are quite friendly and fairly happy to let you in if there's no-one about.

  • spotter - the Tabernacle in Notting Hill is very nice, not sure if it fits your purpose.

  • PM Stevo_Com about the place he got married in- it's a fantastic building, I spent a long time wandering around looking at the huge organ that is plumbed in all around the stage.

It's got a vestibule with some very nice stonework as well as the grand hall, and I suspect you'd be allowed to have a good wander around for the price of a coffee.

  • What about Canary Wharf tube station after hours?

Canary Wharf are one of the better stations for being friendly to photographers, so long as you don't just waltz up with a tripod. Friendliest out of a bunch when I took a group round in the autumn.

  • Westminster tube could look pretty good I reckon, however I suspect you will need to have your testicles felt whilst being asked about your feelings toward militant Islam before they allow you in with a camera and tripod.

  • It's a little know fact that the largest challenge he faced in his 24 was finding a 500 mile downhill.

Now that I would have a go at.

  • PM Stevo_Com. I spent a long time looking at the huge organ.

    Indeed.

  • What cheap spokes should i get for a 36h fixed touring wheelset? 287mm length if that matters

  • ACI from Cyclebasket if you're super cheap, DT Alpine III from Rose if you can stretch to and extra £10

  • Maybe the http://www.lincolnsinn.org.uk/ just across from the surgeons place. Looks like this inside;

But I reckon they are pretty snooty about letting in the riff raff.

Pah, of course we're not snooty about letting in the riff raff. Who else would we get to patronise?

All of the Inns of Court (Gray's, Lincoln's, Middle Temple, Inner Temple) have large dining halls, and Gray's and Lincoln's Inns' halls are particularly fine IMHO. Can't see any reason they'd object to a few photos.

  • What's the most embarrassing Frank Turner lyric?

  • ACI from Cyclebasket if you're super cheap, DT Alpine III from Rose if you can stretch to and extra £10

I can indeed stretch to do alpine. Spoke length not in 287mm. Calculator says 286.4 for rear and 287mm for front. Should u round up or down?

  • 2nd day at new job today and somebody has stolen something from my bike, locked in the apparently 'secure' bike parking. I told security and they've suggested telling the Control office, who can look through CCTV for the day. The only thing is, the thing that's been stolen is a reflective owl (my beautiful handmade-by-Betty owl!) and I will look stupid trying to explain this to Control. But theft is theft, right? It could be the beginning of a slippery slope. What should I do??
    Has this been resolved yet?

    I'd get 286mm for both.

  • What's the most embarrassing Frank Turner lyric?

I’ve got friends who are bankers,
And it’s an easy rhyme to call them wankers

This is as good as I can get having not listened to frank turner since i tried listening to his first album way back when

  • Spotter I've got a friend who works at the natural history museum if you're interested?

  • What's the most embarrassing Frank Turner lyric?

    Eton Rifles?

    any excuse

  • the huge organ that is plumbed in all around the stage.

As an organist myself I can tell you that 'plumbed in' is not quite the right term!

  • By all accounts it was fitted by that Whirlitzer dude, or something

  • As an organist myself I can tell you that 'plumbed in' is not quite the right term!

    "Nailed"?

  • It's a nightmare. Organbuilders are like characters from Dickens novels, and still only respond to typewritten letters.

  • I thought it was fascinating, and a real pity that it was clearly in a bit of a sorry state.

It's not only an instrument, it's the actual infrastructure of the stage- and from the size of some of the pipes, which would not look out of place belching fire during a frank exchange of views between two ships of the line it would sound awesome, also.
