  • Common practice on the track in my days... No one used lock rings anyway, and that was exactly how you would loosen a cog.

    *Kids excluded.

  • Did you one person rotafix? Last fixed sprocket I removed needed two people to turn the wheel. It had been on a 1.6:1 ratio for 12 months of polo...

  • I noticed that something near my bottom bracket/chainset is making a creaking noise when I apply above-average force when pedalling, particularly at starts and climbs.
I've tightened the cranks to bb, and chainring bolts are solid.
All parts are new so I suspect that my bb might just need tightening, am I on the right track?

  • Greased everything? BB cups might need the extra tweak.

  • In Google SketchUp can you type in the intended coordinates of a shape or does everything have to be dragged to size on the mouse?

  • My next step is going skidding slowly along some quiet streets without a lockring..

That's what I did, just go out super slow and pull up hard, it should just come loose.

  • ^wanking tips?

  • would it be an idea to thread a lockring on a few turns actually?

  • Only if you're a muppet with no brakes, surely?

  • Or if you don't want a cog/chain unscrewing off your hub and jamming/scraping between the flange/spacers/hub and frame.

  • In Google SketchUp can you type in the intended coordinates of a shape?

    Yes

  • What's the best way to kick off a campaign to boycott Java until those dicks at Oracle remove the Ask toolbar from their installer?

  • dirty protest, shit in their coffee?

  • would it be an idea to thread a lockring on a few turns actually?

Nahhhh just go and do it at really slow speed.

  • dirty protest, shit in their coffee?

They have an office in Reading.. hmm.. doable.

Not sure the Reading office will have much sway for this global scourge though.

  • Do I have to be a Keirin rider to get an NJS frame built?

  • Adobe and their shit need sorting too...

  • Do I have to be a Keirin rider to get an NJS frame built?

Nope. You can even order a new NJS Panasonic off the internets.

  • Hmmmmm, the only place I could find them didn't do custom enough geo, but thanks :)

  • Order a Nagasawa through Tokyo Fixed?

  • I want to, just asking for future reference because I have my nice bike for now :)

What kinda price do they start at, do you?

  • ask tokyo fixed

  • £1,900.

It makes more sense (and it would be cheaper) to get a UK custom but I'd love to own a Nagasawa too so I sympathise. ;)

  • I know it would be way cheaper and quicker to get a UK built one but I'm in love with the idea of NJS* so I'd better start saving.

    *Oh the shame
