Seriously considering ordering these wheels, any expert care to advise if there's a better deal to be had?
What spokes? You could build them yourself with DT Alpine III for about £20 less.

Brake pads for carbon rims- talk to me.
- Zipp Tangente Platinum Pro Evo
- SwissStop Black Prince
- Reynolds Blue Cryo
Which ones for Zipp 404 FC's?
Always the rim manufacturer's pads, could save you a load of trouble if you get a problem that needs warranty service and the difference in performance will be marginal at best.

cheers
spokes are Sapim Race. price is in € currency, you mean they would cost me under 400 euros then?
I'm not especially after hope/ztr combo, other brands considered too, but this looked like an OK deal

Mmmm - I paid £250 for my Hope / Crest Hoops.

UK price is about £180 for a pair of hubs and £120 for a pair of ZTR Crest 29 rims (shop around to save a couple of quid), Alpine IIIs will be about £30 for 64 with shipping from Rosebikes, so total is around £330 or less, i.e. a smidge under 400 euro. Of course, this is contingent on your being able to build them.

Even when the PO used SwissStop yellows?

This.
But don't you mean "to maximise the surface interaction"?
So the aim is to get the max surface area of the shim touching the stem? I wonder if there is an official Nitto installation diagram?

Wiggle have them at £121.50 front and £207 rear, that comes to €356.17 if you're in Deutschland.

I didn't even know the Post Office had Firecrests on their bikes. The speed of mail doesn't give any indication of it.

I can build them myself but so far I found all parts were more expensive than this complete set... so I'll shop around some more, thanks

Lol i really hope it work and i dont just get sent a base model! My sister (a lawyer) says that they are obliged to provide as stated in the invoice as they list out all of the additional components! Woo!
That's true in the UK. But this is coming from Germany, do they have different rules.
I managed to get one in the basket just for fun. Can't see me using tubs for going to work though.

26", CRC a couple of months ago. Posted more to agree that the link you posted didn't seem like a brilliant deal.
Edit - don't forget to budget for new rim tape and valve stems if you want to run them tubeless. If they are Hope builds they'll come with Hope's green tape which - amusingly enough - isn't tubeless compatible.

Larger area of contact, more evenly distributed pressure. Won't really make any significant difference either way but it just seems the natural way to do it.

"Actually this seems like a lot of bike for the price."
http://www.rosebikes.co.uk/article/rose-xeon-x-lite-3100-di2-double/aid:556379Ugly as sin, but yes, a lot of bike for your money.

€419.65 from wiggle to the Netherlands, which seems a big difference even if the VAT rate is different. Got any friends in the near part of Germany?
Oddly, if you tell wiggle you'll be paying in Sterling for shipment to Netherlands, it's £341.18, which is €400.37 plus whatever the spread is from your payment processor.

What do you think it will do different/better than the PX? How much effect will this putative change/improvement have on your cycling? Could you buy more for less?

it's a nearly ten year old carbon frame, does not appear a great proposition
If they send you anything, it has to be what's on the order form. They are entitled to decline your bid and send you nothing/charge you nothing.
