"You're gonna need a bigger X" with that image is an internet meme

  • We never really had the jaws films in my household.... We were too busy listening to classical music and painting.

  • Why not get a BMX hubs instead Tom?

  • And how in the name of the blue fuck can you listen to a painting?

  • With your heart.

  • middle class and from the north?

    /oxymoron

  • And how in the name of the blue fuck can you listen to a painting?

    lsd

  • ^ this

  • ^ That depends on how much power you're running to the speakers. For house usage lamp cable will be fine unless you're running it past power cables. But then again even with decent protected speaker/data cable you don't want to run it near power cable because of the noise it creates.

I read somewhere (AudioKarma?) that the standard cable used by movie theatres was 12 gauge lamp cord. Apparently even over long runs like that the losses were insignificant. This may no longer be the case, and I'm not sure how they dealt with power cable issues.

To be fair, he said listening to painting, not A painting.

    I mostly watch music.

Cinemas can use whatever cable routing they want, and are also likely to be running the same system at both ends, so they can pump the Signal-Noise-Ratio higher.

Or they can use a digital system with decoders and small amps in each speaker.

  • Getting a new tyre shortly to replace the back I shredded last week is there a preferable wheel to put it on?

Which would benefit having the new tyre?

Most PA systems use high impedance (100Ω) speakers, so high voltage and low current in the speaker cables. Domestic HiFi uses 8Ω impedance speakers, which need lower voltage and higher current to transmit the same power from amp to speaker. This makes it safe to have bare terminals where the kids and pets can get hold of them, but does need fatter wires.

  • We have a lot of monitor speaker setups and the majority are just using standard three core power cable with the earth taped off.

  • Where can I get a biggish 3/32 single speed chainring for 110 104BCD cranks* from?

    • shimano decore middel ring lIke this

  • Ok so I must have the BCD wrong. It's for a 4 bolt.

  • Cheers. That's awesome.

I'm guess thorn will be decent and the price is t bad either.

  • Goldtec go up to 46t in 104pcd 4-bolt

only £17.81, free postage. Check with them whether they actually have any though, their website doesn't do stock control, or even preclude ordering of negative shims:

  • You might be better off just buying a new chainset, that's what I ended up doing in your situation.

  • ^^cheers again.

^ the chainsets good as an alrounder. 48t / 36t / 26t iirc. I'd just like to have an SS and 1X9 option as well.

I'm still thinkin about what size to get. 42t was my first thought, I really need to do the maths as I'm also thinking about having a slightly closer range over the 11-34t or whatever I have now.

PA systems (that aren't megaphone/tannoy style) are all 8ohms, or possibly 4ohms if mono and bridged. The sound quality and relatively small distances involved in cinemas, would suggest they're using normal low-impedance systems and not 100v line stuff.

  • Are the two pits in Gatorskins normal? I've just had two turn up and both a pair on them I assume they are injection holes, should they be there?
