You two are maniacs. Cats do not like mixing it up with traffic whilst trapped inside a tiny cage. They'd like it even less if they were strapped into a madly fishtailing trailer at bumper height while drivers beep furiously at them and do centimetre-close passes. MM's cat will shit herself with terror and end up with lasting Fear every time the cat carrier appears.
MM, if I had a car I'd offer you a lift myself just to make sure you're not tempted to listen to them :|
Ha ha ha. Don't worry I'm not. Thanks guys but I'm 100% with bothwell on this one.
She'd have everylasting fear for Ed or lynx too.

mm - Is the appointment at 8am or you need to leave at 8am? How long does it take to spay a cat? I could maybe do it if you're stuck...

Cats love me, I'm human catnip.
Some of my cats have loved travelling in the car or on the motorbike.

People pay for something like that?
Yep, £8 plus post and packing
-
• #37057
Well yeah, that's what it retails for.
Why not just drill out an appropriately sized dowel, or dig around in the shop for some piece of plastic or aluminum that'll work? -

which given his hourly rate probably costs more than the Paul
(me making a gross assumption that your dad is worth significantly more than minimum wage and it would take at least 30 minutes for him to knock something up)

But who would you rather pay?

Aside from the fact that many people don't have the skills, tools or materials to hand, the most generalised answer to the question "Why buy what you could make?" is in efficient allocation of resources. The thing retails for £8, most people here can make that doing their day job for less than an hour but would spend more than an hour searching for the right bit of material in their shed and then manufacturing the item, even if they actually met the material/tool/skill requirements. Adam Smith explained all this over 200 years ago.

Anyone know where I could get hold of a 10 foot lenght of 20x20cm square polystyrene? (It could be in foot long sections if need be).
I can't see who would sell this nor where I could find that kind of waste.

Maybe your local dump ? Ours has a specific place for polystyrene. Not sure how they feel about people picking up instead of dropping off though.

^of course - that never occured to me. Thanks
I've taken stuff before so maybe I should try again.

What's this?
The grey lines around the bulbs, and around the bottom of the long bit are like O rings, as if they are seals. The long bit has four grooves down its length, but the end is round. The whole thing is hollow, I think, and made of plastic.
