  • Hardly any, they're the kind with a section shaped to let the tyre fit underneath, a normal caliper wouldn't fit if I drilled the crown.

    $88/usd

    any good ?

  • I don't think I've even got enough clearance for that with 23mm tyres, which are the minimum I'd like to use.

  • Is there a way of marking all unread PMs read? You can do one page at a time, but I've got a couple hundred (was more, bored now) that I can't be bothered to work through.

    I have the same problem...

  • does anyone run a cycling club? i have questions!

  • I have the same problem...

    sends more PMs

  • Top right, there's **messages (xxxx) **where xxxx is the number of messages in your inbox. Check the box next to it then scroll to the bottom and choose mark as read from the selected messages drop down box.

  • Only works for the messages on the page which you're on.

  • Sweating colds out for me works, I do a combination of cycling in too many layers so really get a sweat on, go home eat a large hot curry and sit in a very hot bath and then bed with an extra duvet.

I can smell you from here.

  • Well, I rode to work in two jackets and got sweaty, had 2500% my RDA of Vitamin C with zinc, had 3 lemsips, ate a spicy lentil salad for lunch and drank loads of water so technically I should be fine.

  • What's the minimal suggested rating for a waterproof/resistant jacket in heavy rain for about a 30-50 minutes commute?

  • I think you mean IPX6

Careful with paracetomol, be careful about od'ing

  • Not even going to ask.

Vit C fail, your body absorbs very little vit C when it isn't derived in its natural form from whole foods. All those phytochemicals that work synergistically with the vit C, where are they in the supplements?

  • Probably not in the paracetamol.

  • I think you mean IPX6

either way, no garments I have looked at so far mention anything like IP....

  • I think clothing is generally measured with a hydrostatic head number.

  • Any of the modern waterproof/breathables will keep rain out, virtually all of them are very good at containing your own moisture too.

  • Pretty sure I have a cold coming on (entirely my fault for riding yesterday). Anything I can do beyond overdosing on Vitamin C?

    I've found echinacea to help.*

*May just be the placebo effect. YMMV.

I generally believe that you should just overdose on V-C... You should be doing it with all vits and minerals and eating lots of fruit, salad, and proteins (not necessarily meat).

I generally go all out on everything *even echinacea *. I also do as chainbraker does. Altho I have no idea what is just placebo and what isnt, it seems to work - I remain healthy while my colleagues sniff. smugface

    And some other top tips:

    • superdrug's own brand version of beroca is essentially identical and cheaper.
    • put a dab of Vicks on the soft middle bit of your foot before you go to sleep.
    • always keep your feet dry.

Whatever anyone says the placebo effect is incredibably strong and actually worth investing in IMO.

    • put a dab of Vicks on the soft middle bit of your foot before you go to sleep.

    what does that do?

  • I drink loads of hot water (tea and coffee are not suitable alternatives) when I've got a cold. Drink it whilst it's steaming in your face, .

CSB alert - GF once had a nasty cold when we were staying at a mate's place. I found some Vicks (I think Vicks translates into wanker or similar in German) in his cupboard and put some in a pan of hot water for her to inhale. She felt better so we went out for a walk. Got back to mate's place, he had made baked beans on toast using the same pan, that I hadn't washed up. Yummy menthol beans.
