A mate is after a single speed so I'm having a think and look about.
It's for commuting short distances so he wants something fast feelling and aggressive like his road bike, BUT he'd like room for full mud guards most prob on 25/23mm tyres....sort of thinking of the ss/track equivalent of a kinesis racelite.
yeh, i did think about that once I'd posted, But I think he'll want something with less spare cable guides etc.And probably otp.

Flat transition from bars to hoods is half about the levers and half about the bars.
SRAM S500/900 brake levers are exactly the same shape as DoubleTap shifters.
Thanks for the SRAM tip, I'll look into that option too.
My current set-up with Nitto Noodle 177 in 42cm and the 341s.
I also have a Randonneur in 42cm.
Could I get away with moving the levers a little higher or just add more padding at the transition between lever and bar?https://www.dropbox.com/s/ckrpf2no61cxmi1/IMG_1858.JPG

What is the name of and where can I find those specific narrower ray ban wayfarers a la Dylan in '66? The 'new wayfarer' shape (think there are the ones Wiggo wore on the podium?) seems close but I'm not sure it nails it. Saw someone rocking exactly the ones I mean last week but neglected to ask. Any ideas?

I've been very happy with the quality and service from these folks.
They offer a whole range of widths, lens sizes, arm lengths et cetera.

Apparently they are the originators of the Ronsir style. -

I've always gone with the altura crochet track mits and they cost around £13 and lasted me 4-5 months.
At what point is it required to replace cycling clothing?
My jersey armpits smell like plain Doritos (if only they were sharkpits) and my gloves, well...
That palm vent is not a design feature.
Any recommended padded half-finger gloves? They're SO expensive here I think I may order from Wiggle.

I have had a pair of the Specialized BG gloves for 6 years that I have worn lots and that I have washed a lot as well. They are close to being replaced because the velcro fastener is starting to go on one of them. The palms are fine.

The Specialized gloves are good, I have some Prenda's at the moment, but they are falling to bits now after about 6 months use.

Do oversize bars only have OS clamp sections or are they 31.8mm all along them.
Would 90s DA levers fit on Deda Big Piegas?
And do cantis need special levers, I really hope not... -
• #34960
Some keep the oversize to the clamp section, some keep the oversized area all along the top. The lever area is the same so yes, the levers will fit.
Cantis work with normal levers, it's v-brakes than need more cable pulled through

Why do brake pads have little wings? Is there any benefit?
-
• #34963
Slots the wheel straight in between the pads.

• #34964
Generates lift, making your bike lighter at speed.

Stability

Keeps them attached to your knickers.

Like I said.

Just making it more obvious.

Pfft, who cares? You get a lighter bike which is all that matters
-
• #34971
Not rotating weight, meh.
-
• #34972
Hop more, no need to rotate anything.

what's the difference (in terms of purpose) between a long cage and short cage rear mech?
if it's the size of sprockets in use when would you go to a long cage? -
• #34975
The wider the spread of the sprockets the longer the cage you need.
A road cassette is usually something like 11-23 with a 39/53, here you'd use a short cage.
A standard mtb cassette is 11-32 with a 22/32/44, here you'd us a long cage as the difference in sprocket sizes are greater.I'm not sure exactly how to work it out but Tester knows and google will probably give you the answer
Wow the Palmas are cheap. I got my Deda Newton bars for £15 off Ebay though.
Edit: The Deda Big Piega is similar, and Apollo has a pair he's being trying to shift for months, he will probably be paying people to take them off him soon. You could get them cheap and give them a go?
