Post a pic and a description in this thread.

  • Quite a while ago there was a discussion about evening courses. Someone had been on a woodwork / carpentry type of evening course at a london college. I'd quite like to do the same. Does anyone remember the discussion / can you point me to it? I've utfs'ed and am drawing a blank.

Alternatively, have you been on a course like this? Got a recommendation?

  • I'm going to be sailing across to Dublin in a week or two, and I really don't want to spend megabucks on kit - I have a decent jacket, can anyone recommend a good pair of salopettes or something similar for cheap?

  • What's the best way to treat road rash?

  • Good article here http://velonews.competitor.com/2003/05/coaches-panel/ask-the-doctor-with-dawn-richardson_3909

I ended up buying some huge Hydrocolloid plasters but they are pricey.

You can buy the smaller ones from boots and it's possible to assemble a larger plaster from small ones if you are careful & patient.

  • From painful experience;

    1. Make sure it is as clean as you can get it. This may involve you having to scrub it with a nail brush or similar to get all the road bits out*.
    2. Buy some hydrocollid dressings and use those.

*you'll weep with pain but it's worth it in the long run as anything that stays in can become infected and then you've a whole heap of issues to deal with.

  • Canal boat leaking oil opposite our flat - other than trying to contact the owner and BW is there anything we can do?

  • Thanks guys :((

  • I removed a section of skin from my ankle to my knee at a race last year - awful. I share your pain.

  • I failed to clear out the grit from roadrash on my face. I had a feint grey shadow when the scab came off. Each bit of grain had to be squeezed out like a blackhead.

  • Charmed

  • does anybody know anything about strangulation? physilogically speaking.

  • Depends if you mean choking or strangling as they are two different things.

Damn, I wish I'd heard about this a few months ago!

    Talk to other boaters nearby?

A few boaters read Jacqui's thread:

    https://www.lfgss.com/thread74433.html

    You could post there.

  • But would the same apply for latex tubes?

I had several 18/20 latex tubes fail at the join when installed in 23c tyres, so I avoid it now

After all this time, you now want to sell it?

The boat is occupied so am going to try to catch them today. If not I'll stick a note on their boat. BW office is just down the road so will pop in there too.

Some of the local waterfowl are getting gummed up with oil - very distressing :(

  • I have mounted this Look Ergopost seatpost :

    using this :

on this frame (Look KX Light) :

    at 7 Nm.

After a few rides and adjusting the heigth it looks like this:

Question 1 : Is the damage so bad that I have to get rid of it?
Question 2 : what did I do wrong?
Question 3 : can I fit any replacement seatpost with this frame cluster arrangement?

Same problem with my Peugeot frame and carbon seatposts. Apply enough torque to keep it from slipping and you dent/crack the seatpost, apply the right amount and it just slips and rotates regardless of how much assembly paste.

  • How does that seatpost mechanism work with the wedge expander? (excuse my terminology)

  • Much like a quill stem.

The wedges tighten together expanding the circumference of the clamp and this exerting a force on the seat post to hold it in place in the seat tube.

  • Is the wedge at the end of the seat post, or inside it? Either way, it sounds like a terrible idea for a carbon frame/seat post.

  • It goes into that hole perpendicular and behind the seat tube. A hole in the seat tube then places the curved surface of the wedge flush with the seat post.
