  • Comparing it to the other bike is a good start, though - I don't have this trouble on my fixed bike so it should provide some clues as to what's gone so horribly wrong with the XC. God knows what I'll do if my feet do turn out to have the wrong size, though. Bit late to send them back to the factory at this point.

  • You'll just have to move the other contact points to compensate. I have layback posts on all my bikes except my On-One Inbred, which is already plenty slack.

  • does anybody know anyone that makes custom cycling caps? Ive got a big head and can never find one that fits....

  • I've now got the bike's and my own measurements handy and it seems that everything on the bike is bang-on apart from the top tube length (about 5cm too short) and the stem (about 20mm too short). There's no noticeable difference between the new bike and the old bike when it comes to the pedal position / crank length so I guess I'm just leaning forward over the front of the bike because of its compact dimensions and screwing up my posture that way.

Going to stick a longer stem on and if that doesn't work try a seatpost with more setback.

The knee-pedal axle thing didn't seem to work great for me either, btw - I've also got the wrong sized feet it seems. It's definitely comfortable on my langster, though, so less worried about it now. Thanks guise!

  • What have I forgotten?

  • that we aren't psychic

  • What have I forgotten?

    You left the gas on.

  • I'm doing a sportive this weekend, and I'm afraid that I'll "pull a Hippy" and leave my shoes at home (or similar).

What is the most likely thing to forget?

  • Got one on the bike (with tube of Nuun in it), about to put the other one on.

not sure what 2omegas would say if you came back with a hirsute person dressed in tie dye

What is the best thing to forget?

That you've paid money to ride on roads full of nodders which you could have ridden free of charge and free from nodders any other weekend.

  • bike, multitool, pump, spare tub/tube, snacks, credit card, cash, helmet, sunglasses, hat, jersey, bibshorts, socks shoes, gooch cream, medication, drugs, food, bike computer

  • to take the turbo trainer off the bike before you ride it.

I'm not using that bike, it's staying at home.

  • Suncream!

  • Sadly I don't think that will be required.

I did give in and buy some chamois cream today, for the first time.

Never stopped him riding though. Shoes are overrated.

I'll continue to happily pay money to ride public roads that are signposted sportive-style.

Like you I'll also continue to pay money to ride up and down public roads with someone sitting at each end with a stop watch.

gps, power meter, heart rate monitor, lactate tester, electrostimulation machine, mobile phone, laptop, power supply, spare batteries, chargers...

  • Taking the 705, debating using tape and zipties to try to prevent it skittling off.

  • Take a roll of bog roll just in case.

  • Has anyone fitted Nokon cables to Campag Ultrashift ergo levers? The outside diameter of the spiral section is greater than the diameter of the cable exit hole so I'm tempted to file it down to fit so if anyone else has done this let me know how it went.

  • This is discussed at some length on WW, let me find the post
