  • suggest you try your lbs' to see if they have an old 9-sp exa-drive cassette lockring knocking about

  • I'll give Brixton a ring tomorrow morning. Rather disappointed, I was looking forward to riding a new bike tomorrow.

    For reference:

Campagnolo Oversized 27.0 mm lock rings fit the following hubs:
    All current hubs and models.
All current Campagnolo factory built wheels.
All 2000 to present Record, Chorus, Daytona, Centaur, Veloce and Mirage 9 and 10 speed rear hubs.
All 1999 to present Campagnolo Factory Built 9 and 10 speed Wheels.
1999 Record and Chorus 9 speed hubs.

Campagnolo 26.0 mm lockrings fit the following hubs:
All 1997 and 1998 Record, Chorus, Athena, Veloce and Mirage 9 speed rear hubs.
All 1997 and 1998 Campagnolo Factory Built 9 speed Wheels.
1999 Athena, Veloce and Mirage 9 speed hubs.

There are also 2 lock rings for each of the cassettes 11 and 12 tooth cassettes. So there is a 26mm lock ring for a 11 tooth cassette and another 26mm lock ring for a 12 tooth cassette. The flange is wider for the 12 tooth cassette. Same goes for the 27mm lock ring.

The 8 speeds get a 29mm lock ring unless the hub is titanium then in that case it gets a 27mm lock ring.

  • Means those wheels are 1998, also, which is interesting.

  • In fact I had one (from a 98 Chorus), but can't find it. Sorry. I might have left it on the hub which I passed with the cracked Zipp 404 to Xander. Not sure which was which now.

  • Thanks for looking Kris.

  • Ask Xander, if it was with that wheel it hasn't moved from his wall.

  • You see, I'm not sure. It was either that one or the Shamal (which was broken down and hub sold).
    Worth asking, though.

  • I've PM'd Xander, we shall see.

  • i have an 8 speed cassette and lock rig if thats any help

  • I have an 8 speed lockring- it is 29mm.

    I appreciate the offer.

  • Oop just seen this. Yes there is a campag lockring on that hope hub that I got from Kris.

    pm'd you dammit

  • You'd have to check if it's 27 or 29mm, but now I'm sure it was also 8 spd, because I used it.

  • The other Chorus hub lived in the drawer...

  • In a dilemma - can't decide whether to spend tomorrow catching up on sleep, chilling in a park and eating nice food OR at the hospital, sweltering, eating shite curry slop, sitting around in groups which have failed to help me in 6 months...

  • I have guestimated and it looks to be around 26-27mm

  • Did you fit it around to check?

    Park wins

  • right which 10 speed campag fit cassette & chain do i buy?

  • Chain KMC SL, Cassette Campag.

  • Veloce 10spd. Unless you're gram counting.

  • Is there anyone in the UK that can properly refurbish Shimano STI shifters before I send a couple of pairs to this guy?

He is recommended by John Allen on the Sheldon Brown website, and the only other things I can find by Googling are solutions involving spraying a lot of WD-40 into the shifters.

Does anyone have a better idea?

  • The Shimano Service Centre part of the website directs you to LBS with certified mechanics. The ones round here that I called all had the same answer, which is that it's basically impossible due to the dearth of spare parts.

  • I would like to buy an aero wheelset for my geared bike. I currently do my training on it and have started racing TTs, according to Adam Topham if you can only afford one aero wheel, buy a front, using that info I will use the front wheel of the wheelset on my fixed bike when entering medium gear fixed TT events and possibly buy an aero fixed rear wheel in a month or two so that I have enough wheels for two bikes. My budget is ~£350 I don't think I can stretch any further than that. Opinions?

Gav86 mentioned that Ribble had the Fulcrum R3s for a smidge over £300 but they are sold out of Shimano fitment. I don't know how good they are but they seemed like a good deal. I have seen lots of deals on EA50s but I have also seen lots of complaints about difficulties in getting tyres on them. Not Scoble style ineptitude, but the diameter being just that little bit too big.

  • Can anyone recommend a chiropractor/similar near kilburn for ~£30?

My friend has fucked her neck.
