By tyre liners you mean rim tape?
If so - If you're using stuff like Velox or Conti 'easy tape' then yes, you have to cut off a small amount of excess anyway. Don't buy bands like Schwalbe, the difference is usually obvious.

What are these things? In Tube station.

Hmm, they look a bit like a barcode reader. Do they show a red squiggly light if you put something in front of the "lens"?
My other thought is they are some sort of periscope and allow staff to watch certain areas of the station from somewhere else.
I'm probably wrong though.

prisms that reflect a laser back to a surveying station. You sometimes see the stations set up somewhere and they will be programmed to beam a laser to these prisms and back to the station, telling the surveyors where the prisms are in relation to the station. I can only presume, as they are fixed, this it to change there is no movement in the tunnel walls

Almost- these are mind control laser turrets, but there by our lizard overlords.

often you will see something like this bolted up somewhere.
they are worth thousands so I reckon they move them around and survey places at intervals
-

we used them as a surveying tool in archaeology. you would set up the station on a tripod and calibrate it based on known benchmarks. The prism is normally on a pole of a known height that another person would walk around with and place at points on the ground you wanted to know the exact location of including height above sea level. the data would then be fed into topographic modelling software and a plan of the area would be made.

Jagwire Racer Pro or Yokozuna reaction
I have one of each + the original shimano, any opinions or does it make no difference?
-
• #25637
I told Mal they were either for smiting people in the station (actually detecting if people were present, ie. beam break detection) or for detecting movement in station walls/roof. I so clever.

Anyone know what these are?
It reminds me of the pigpen cipher

If I posted images (the copyright for which lies with me) on a forum, then got banned from that forum so I'm not able to edit my posts anymore, what right do I have to request/demand the images be removed?
-
• #25640
I would imagine that there would be some t's and c's in the sign-up process which would cover it?
-
• #25641
The t's and c's say, "All images, graphics, and photographs submitted remain copyright of the respective author, and will not be used by ***** ***** Ltd without express permission from the author."
I would have thought that keeping the image on the page where I posted it (and now want it removed from) was use without permission.
The images in question are hosted on Flickr and were posted using the BBCode, I can remove or alter the image which the linkback goes to but this does nothing to the image embedded in the post.

You could remove the images from flickr then upload them again. Bit of a faff but it would work

Tried it, and replacing the photo on Flickr, didn't seem to make any difference.
Edit: Also I have the images that are hosted on Flickr embedded elsewhere and I REALLY can't be arsed with those links getting broken too!
Ignore me, messing with the images Flickr does seem to kill the images on the forum posts.

does Tower Gateway/Hill or near it have decent bike stands? if so where?

Due to being an idiot, i lost the pre-load bolt on the on-one external crank set.
http://www.planet-x-bikes.co.uk/imgs/products/900x650_constWH/CSOOTC_P1.jpg
Fromm looking at pictures of other external cranks, this looks to be like hollowgram 2.
Would this be correct?
And does the number, aka M20 denote how many mm the bolts threads are? -

What knee exercises can I do when at work? Talking about under the desk kind of thing, I think the fact I sit at a desk all day really isn't helping with my knee issues.

Can you play footsie with someone?

Not sure if it's practical but I do single leg squats when waiting for the printer to print stuff. Also when I need to chat to colleagues I'll balance on one leg (both specific to my prob maybe not your one).
I look like a twat mind.
Other than that you can get the physio bands and create a loop attached to your chair leg/base and do leg extensions.

• #25649
My problem comes from tight bands connecting to the knee, doesn't hurt if I have my leg out straight though as opposed to feet flat on the floor.
Also massaging my knee helps, but I can't exactly do much work that way, and I'll look funny with my hands under the table.

spenceey - have you tried rolling on a 2 litre waterbottle up and down your thigh? I could barely walk after a big fixed ride on Thursday, did this < on Friday and was racing on Saturday! Before when I've had knee pain like that it's lasted weeks/months - knowing it stems from the IT band and using that method to relax it has been a complete revelation!
now, my question... does anyone know where I can get a Token Tiramic BB cheap cheap?
Can I use 700 tire liners on 650 rims and just cut off the extra as long as it's for the same width of tires? Stands to reason but I wondered if I was missing something important since there don't seem to be any for smaller rims that aren't for kids bikes.
