Any obvious ways to dampen the noise of a turbo trainer, apart from putting yet more rubber matts underneath? On each rotation there's a dull thump and I supose the equivalent noise is a washing machine. Well. No It's not that bad, but there's definite pretty heavy vibrations in the room.
I don't particularly like my downstairs neighbour, but I don't want to be a twat if I can avoid it.

Try moving it a bit, usually closer to a wall is better as you'll be feeding energy into the resonant system close to a null point rather than close to a standing wave maximum.

Does that work? If so don't make it a corner.
Putting speakers in corners usually gives you an increase in bass. -

Putting speakers in corners usually gives you an increase in bass. That's different; speakers are driving the air volume, the turbo is driving the floor like a drum skin.

Got it.
My turbo noise is ground floor so it's mostlya bit of 'wirrrring'. Lacks bass.. needs EQ..

Thanks all - just went hell for leather watching one of those race simulation things and asked my housemate who is on the other side of a hallway - there's a door and a window in my room looking over it and a door at his end - if he heard anything. In the hallway it's quite loud, but in his room nothing. And the vibrations I felt are very localised apparently. He was standing a few feet from me as I was riding and couldn't feel the floor. I'll try to keep it to relatively civilised hours and I'll look into the tyre, positioning ^, and a rubber mat. Think this could be a winner..

does this sentence make sense:
"which requires specifically trained technical staff to perform these tests under laboratory conditions"
?
Or should it be 'specially'... basically they are trained, and their training is particular to them, and not everyone has it.
