In other news, are there any legitimate ways to check your credit rating? I just applied for an online business account with HSBC (have a current account with natwest - debit and credit) and got declined.
I've only used the credit card about 5 times - all of which I've paid back in full within a couple of days.
I've been overdrawn (within an amount agreed with my bank) within the past 12 months - but otherwise fine.
I've been accepted before by credit agencies when it comes to paying off big things - like stupidly expensive cycling equipment.
Googling credit rating is obviously no use as I get 100,000 sketchy looking websites.
Any way to find out why I was declined?
I'm applying for a Business Direct account with them, for expected annual income of less than 500,000. I don't need and didn't ask to borrow money.
In the words of Mike LaFontaine, WHAAA HAAAAAPENED?

i've seen people sitting in parks for open air concerts and the like on sort of chairs without legs - more like a sort of L shape - your weight on the bottom part keeps the back bit upright that supports your back - so you can sit on the ground for a concert etc and not get a tired back -
anybody know who makes them or where to find them?

Yes.
Are you registered to vote? Being on the electoral roll is one of the easiest ways to boost your credit rating.

+1 Not being on the electoral register is tantamount to being Nick Leeson in the eyes of some institutions. I have been refused credit solely on this in the past.
Go to experianm or equifax. Just view your credit record with them...their more expensive services that give you a "credit score" are usually a waste of time. There is no such universal premise as a credit score and all they are effectively doing is saying whether you are poor, average or good in the eyes of the average lender.
A bit of common sense when you view your record should be enough for you to work out what is wrong if anything.
Have you paid any mobile phone bills late? Thats all on you record if so...

Not at my current address - so no. Though on that note I'm currently sealing an envelope with my application contained within.
Very irksome. I've been advised to visit a branch and apply in person however I suspect they use the same system.

Does anyone know if Cyclefit sell packs of Le Wedges without a fitting?

Scherrit might do if they do not?

Looks like Sigma's the best option, they sell 2 for £1.50 each, whilst CycleFit want £21.99 for 8.

Sounds like you'll be alright once you're on the register then.
I recently had my CC company write to me to say that they were halving my credit limit due to the conduct of my account. They themselves confirmed over the phone that they had no record of me ever failling to settle my bill in full on time every month since I got the card from them three years ago. What a crock of shit. I instantly requested that they close my account as the new limit wasn't even enough to cover a flight or holiday which was my main use for the card. Their loss. Or not it seems.
My ex failed a mortgage application in 2005 due to having £1.87 owed on an old credit account. Thankfully they eventually exercised a level of common sense and approved her after looking into it.

Oh my, thank you so much.. Hadn't thought of that one yet.
Nice one! I'm getting the same for the Scissor. Will fit the Avid v-brake and survive the inter.

what are those little brass cable end things called, that the wires are either soldered to or crimped to, that are then pushed into the sockets in the black circles?
Where might I find them?
