You don't want white tyres
-
• #15928
why not?
-
• #15929
Because they're aesthetically unpleasing to most people. Nothing to do with performance

Thanks hoefla.

I think they look pretty good on my bike though to be honest, has anybody even rode Schwalbe Lugano tyres?
-
• #15932
Lugano's are a good basic tyre, they don't last very long when skidding though

All this talk of ice cream, no one mentions a nobbly bobbly. Today is an epic fail for you all.

here's a slice of what i'm after.
As a matter of idle curiosity, since I'm 18 years out of date on stuff like this, are you also pricing this job in aluminium for comparison?

You are speaking of the man who does not sniff at a L25 brekkie!!

What happened to Maxibons?
I love the bastards, but they're always broken to pieces at the shop here....

Mrs Bobbo says you can still buy them in Australia, if that helps, but they are now shit as they are not as big as they used to be when she were young!

what nice behind the saddle bottle cages do people have?
thinking of something like this http://www.wiggle.co.uk/minoura-sbh-300-dual-bottle-cage-mount/ but in a single. I can only find http://www.wiggle.co.uk/tacx-bottle-cage-saddle-mount/ which I don't really like the look of.
hmm, actually what saddlebag do people recommend that might allow drinking on the go?
i've got that first one, it's quite heavy and rattles but does the job. The second one Wiggle have lost in the post or not sent me, but I want it because it looks neater.

fixedcheese was selling one of those tacx ones, probably more reliable than royal mail.

Toruing bars - Randonneurs or midges?
-
• #15945
former, it got a lovely sweep back on the top to rest your hand on, but check the reach though, the randonneur bar is a lots longer from the brake hood, although it got a flat top and bottom.
But then again, you might like the midge, it is a personal choice after all.
-
• #15946
If you have an oversized stem already you can as well get the Midge ones.
-
• #15947
I'm thinking of for the CX bike (OS stem) and for the tourer, which will have a 25.4. only thing on the CX bike is fitting through those narrow canal gates, (like this / \ ), with current bars can just squeeze through. aren't the midges 56cm or something? Also, CX has sram double tap, read some people struggled with inegrated shifters on the midge?
-
• #15948
Midge are very wide, but manageable.
I don't know SRAM levers, but as the bend on the Midge bars is quite drastic, I can imagine it being restrictive. -
• #15949
there are a lots more option, like the new nitto dirt drop bar in hubjub, the salsa woodchipper, salsa bell lap, ragley luxy etc.
-
• #15950
the shape of the Salsa woodchipper mean that the shifter won't be at an alarming angle like the Midge;
Scrap my last question actually, does anyone know where I can get decent, durable white tyres 700x23 for as cheap as possible?
