Not that, the arse and bike cleaning bit.
I'm short.

There are strict arse cleaning laws in this country, don't you know?

Are completely solid tires any good? If not what are the best tires for my fixed gear, and i know i need skid patches, what ones or can i buy tires with them on?
Cheers

Awwwwwwwww bless your socks! Skid patches are just the sections of the tyre that you can skid on according to your ratio (someone will explain it better), not something that's added to the tyre :)
Edit: unless someone has neglected to tell me something and that's why I suck at skidding

Our plumber came from your neck of the woods- he had to leave very early to get here, he's a mate of Diggers, hence why we used him.
Asbestos tank- where is it? Does it have to be disturbed or can you just leave the fucker where it is?
Was your plumber call den by any chance?

Try lifting (unweighting) the rear end while you're attempt to skid, i.e. 'skip skid';
-
• #15818
I can skip stop pretty easily but I find that the stopping part doesn't usually happen that quickly. I can skid in wet weather and on grass like a pro but when it's dry I can only skid about 5cm. Sumo says it's because I don't lean forwards enough. I think it's because my tyres are super grippy. It's not that important because I usually use my legs/brake to stop anyway, I just want to be able to perform a decent skid if the day finally comes that I am DASed.

Leaning forward enables longer skidding, but at the expense of stopping. There is a sweet spot in the pedal stroke to skid, even in high gears on dry tarmac etc. It's the timing of unweighting with locking your legs.
You can lock your rear leg on the upstroke, then lock your front leg such that you pull up on the front pedal at 3 O'Clock. You'll end up standing but not leaning forward and also stopping with a bit of practice.

is it that you skid for a little bit and then your legs give way and you start pedalling again?
^was leading into that, are you managing to lock your legs?
Funny, I lock my front leg first by lifting it up, then rear leg follows. lifting your front foot a little also encourages you to lean your weight forward.

£16 for the pair. Just sayin'.

Yeah I just can't seem to hold the skidding position and my legs are forced to turn again.
I will attempt to get my head around what you've both advised. There's a lot of leg miming and confused face going on right now.

• #15823
^^ I've already got nicer brakes than that thanks.
-
• #15824
also, are your tyres pumped up hard (100-120psi) ? can make a big difference.
Think, lift front foot as it passes the top of the pedal stroke, push out rear foot, legs straight, hips towards bars (but not too bar, mind the stem!)

As mdcc points out, skids are only for show, they aint a reliable way of stopping. Unless you're "semi-pro" riding "fixed" like those tits in the asos vid
How much you payin', Mr?
