I'm only having 2 out. How long did 4 take?
Fuck if I know. I was asleep, and when I woke up, not really interested in what the time was.

Fair enough. Maybe I should have gone for the sedation. I think I was trying to look hard in front of the nurse.

fail.

Sedation is ace! Monged out, reeling around the waiting room afterwards knocking into stuff like a toddler, telling strangers you love them, trying to chat up the receptionist with blood coming out your gob.....Girlfriend thought that bit was hilarious....seriously, go sedated!

I'm due to get my wisdom teeth removed. Anyone else had it without sedation? I opted not to be sedated cos he said it's the procedure's painless anyway, and the sedation means you need to be accompanied out the hospital.
But now i'm thinking about them cutting my gums open and sedation seems quite appealing.
Anyone been through it?
I had mine out under local anesthetic and it was fine. Having seen what my cousin went through under general anesthetic, I think local was the preferable option.
I had one side done in one go and the other side in two.
The first visit was for the two teeth and took no more than 20 mins from injection to leaving the dentists theatre. I was on soft foods for the rest of the day and nothing crunchy and tangy for another two.
The second visit was a bit of a bitch. The dentist was going to do both teeth on the other side but the first one took about 40 minutes because it was really awkward and he didn't want to reanethetise. When I went back for the last tooth he anesthetised, made the incision and the tooth just fell out and he had me sewed up and out of the theatre in less than 10 minutes.
The injection tastes nasty and can make you wince a bit as the needle gets inserted into your jaw. There isn't a lot of space there so you may feel the needle run against the bone. It don't hurt but it's not a nice feeling either. The surgery won't hurt although there will be pain once the anesthetic wears off, this would be no different if you went under general. I would advise against driving or cycling afterwards as you can have moments of nausea and don't want to bump up your blood pressure but should be fine on your own. I was a teenager at the time so my parents chucked me in the back of a car and stopped on the way home for hot chocolate.

Sedation is a shit idea and very few people come out of it "monged" in a nice way. If you're like my cousin then you can end up feeling pretty rough for the next twelve hours and have trouble keeping food down. Vomiting through a mouthful of stitches isn't to be recommended, apparently this hurts like fuckery.
There's less risk of things going wrong with local as well.

It isn't general anaesthetic, it just sedation, so you're still conscious, but yeah the dentist seemed to imply it wasn't worth it. 40 mins is about the limit of what i could bear though.
If it doesn't hurt it doesn't hurt I guess, but I'll sleep on it. Thanks for advice again.

I had general anaesthetic then, not sedation. Had no problems. Didn't get particularly baked, nor feel particularly bad. Just made the whole thing fairly painless (see what I did there?).
I've heard horror stories about people having compacted (or whatever) teeth which need to be broken to be removed (and then removed in pieces). I did not want to be awake if that became an issue.

Dunno if there's a list. You could open two windows and hover you mouse over the links on the homepage and make a list yourself. Or ask VB.

......between one thing for sale on the Internet, and another thing....
Both are similar, but different enough to make it an awkward choice that I feel would be best handled by asking the Forum at large......
Opinions sought please
