How easy is it to fit a derailleur hanger to a bike, i.e. is it something a qualified mechanic should do? The frame in question is built with a replaceable hanger.
Should be very simple, unscrew old one, screw on new one. Only even slightly difficult bit would be getting gears sorted again if things have been knocked around a bit in whatever event snapped the old hanger.

How long does it usually take for things to arrive from USA?
I bought 3 things from American Ebay sellers but have so far yet to see a dickybird. -
• #13359
dont know if that quoting bit works as i'm still a puter luddite but @hoefla, i've got a nokia e71 which is brill, has internet, screen not as big as an iphone but big enough, has a full qwerty keyboard which is ace for texts and fine for my sausage fingers. battery also kicks apple into touch and had mine for over a year now and battery charge still lasts 3-4 days. also its been replaced by the e72 and maybe others since so should be able to get a good deal on it.

@BQ - tt depends what courier/postal system they've used. I've had stuff take weeks, especially if it is high value as Parcelforce hold onto it whilst doing the import duty procedure, and had other stuff come in days (I once ordered something on a Friday evening and it arrived, from California) on Monday morning.

All the stuff I've ordered from the US took 3weeks.

By the way - who can true my wheel?
Preferably quickly, preferably from East.
Preferably someone who owns me a favour? -
• #13368
I could, but I'm not from 'East'. And…

How can I make my brakes work better in the wet?
-
• #13371
Upgrading the brake blocks is the cheapest and most effective option.
What brakes do you have?
-
• #13372
Shimano Ultegra, with fairly standard no name blocks
-
• #13373
I use to hate Shimano pads, they seem to be much better these days.
Swiss Stop are lovely but expensive, Kool Stop too. Aztec are shit. BBB were ok. -
• #13374
Yeah, used to have aztec before I swapped the calipers. They seem to be made to last a long time, not to stop you effectively.
-
• #13375
Yup. Better brake blocks. And clean your wheel rim. Baby wipes are good for that.
I'm going to take a punt. Wish me luck!
