  • Good tip.

In action the suitcase is fine. But if it happens again I'll go that route as they're cheaper too.

  • No real difference to how easily we can pull them along

    Shouldav sprung for Bones

  • I'm looking for a modern version of this Karrimor Kalahari jacket, fleece but with the front half having a water resistant/windproof layer.

I have one very similar to this one (it's manky from mtbing right now hence not picturing mine) and I find it a really useful bit of clothing but mine must be getting on for about 25 years old so it's pretty done. I'd like to replace it but drawing a blank on finding anything similar.

  • Does it need the back pockets?

I got one of these recently which seems nice and not too pricey

Would imagine anything with Polartech lightweight insulation should do you good

  • Paramo or Buffalo would be similar but don’t see anything that has the back without the windblocker.

  • I have one of these. Insulation on the chest and kidneys, ventilation down your spine

  • Where was that reddit story about the young guy who'd bought a place with a £40k inheritance from his grandad, but didn't realise he needed insurance and then there was a leak before he moved in.

His parents were taking all his income in rent and tried to get the 40k too.

  • oh god, i saw that. Hell. I seem to remember he was freaking out but was being generally reassured that it probably wasn't the end of the world.

  • We're away and the house sitter has just messaged to say the freezer has stopped working. All the dog food is frozen so we can't do without. I've asked her to switch it off for a while but if that doesn't do it I have no idea what a logical next step would be. 6.5 years old and no previous issues, repair or replace?

  • Can she take the frozen food to her freezer?
Can you ring some neighbours and have them come round to take some for a while?
Can you get Amazon Prime to deliver a new freezer today?
Can you afford to loose a freezer food of food, and be without a freeze, until you can get the freezer repaired, which will probably be a couple of weeks after you get back home?

  • Has the cirucit it is on tripped? House sitter accidentally flicked the power switch that controls it? Some of my kitchen appliances have mains switches at the other side of the room.

  • Cabin cases.

Any recs for one that can do 4 wheels but also 2 wheeled tilts for less even/smooth surfaces. Hard case preferred. Good wheels (tbh my ThinkTank Airport V3 has got some of the best wheels I've used, but a bit camera focused: https://cvp.com/product/thinktank_t572_airport_security_v3)

All on john lewis seem to have the same review that when you tilt from 4 wheels to 2, the wheels damage or the zip-to-shell join tears.

  • We have a Thule bc it was heavily discounted in uncool dark red.
Rigid back/kinda soft front. The back wheels are a bit bigger than front so it's ok to do two wheels pulling. Only maybe five trips of use but seems good.
When my sister was a stewardess they all had Samsonite.

  • Samsonite was the one I was kind of thinking as it's got the rep but had consistently poor reviews for the same issues across their range. Will check out Thule, thanks

  • If you're stuck let me know. I pass by yours twice a day so happy to ferry dog food from my freezer to your fridge until you get it sorted!

  • Been searching online and will continue to, but does anyone have any definitive info on/ or links to the history of mixte frames/bikes, how they came about, prominent builders etc.
Doing some research and currently spending a lot of time trawling through pages of opinion as fact on various cycle forums..

    Thanks in advance.

  • Twin tubed legit or all the step through frames that have been called mixte?
Either way it'll all end in tears of frustration.

  • Twinlats (mixte) frames were a popular build at Cliff Pratt Cycles BITD, might be something in his book?

  • definitive

Good luck with that. Every time you find an old advertisement claiming novelty, you're only hours of research from finding an earlier example.

  • I’m contracting as a sole trader for a global corporation (there’s a long story for why not as an LTD). My contract ends soon. I’ve not received an IR35 determination from them, although I made multiple attempts to get one. If they don’t give me a determination, what happens next? If I’m determined to be within IR35, would the taxes be paid by the client additional to my day rate, or would I have to reimburse them? If I’m outside IR35, but being paid as a sole trader, is there any benefit over being inside IR35?

  • Ah mate very kind of you to offer, thankfully the old on/off plus a hoover of the dust off the back has done the trick. Nori both having the time of her life and being rushed to the vets whilst we're away has been quite the rollercoaster, thankful we don't have to add new freezer to the drama! Lmk if you want any tat from Japan.
