We did it at Gatwick and was really smooth.

You do hear some horror stories now and again though. My uncle uses these services all the time, and had his car come back covered in mud having been ‘stored’ in a field, loads of inexplicable miles added etc.

A mate of mine used one and one of the employees stole a car and some keys just before my mate flew home. The police locked down the compound while they worked out which cars had keys stolen. Resulted in him and his young family being stuck in Heathrow for hours trying to negotiate return of their car!

Used one in Luton and the poor car came back with even more scratches than it had when we left it. TBH I think they “parked” it in a hedge on a farm track as one side was covered in tiny scratches and the other was caked in mud. But it was CHEAP!, so I guess I should have known.

Neighbour has just received 2 parking tickets from Central London whilst their car was parked by one of these companies at Gatwick. It was supposed to be parked in the multistory there.

this is my fear, I dont really care about the car as such, all justpark options are more expensive than cab .. might just cab it, my kid really hates the way cab drivers drive, was a vomit galore last time round lol

All cab/uber drivers in London drive like dog shit my Mrs is always feels like shit after any can ride.
What's wrong with the Gatwick parking? I've always found it about the price of a one way taxi ride and the last time our plane back from Malta was massively delayed, got into Gatwick around 2am and the shuttle buses to the car park were still running fine.

Heathrow .. I need it for 37 days

I dont understand the motive behind this at all, constant cycle of FULL GAS PEDAL TO THE FLOOR and then instant brake

Heathrow .. I need it for 37 days
Ha, fuck me, I need to learn how to read. 37 days! Yeah I'd probably cab it and deal with the vom. I'm also on the Liz line so unless it's stupid o'clock Heathrow is pretty straight forward even with kids and bags.
FULL GAS PEDAL TO THE FLOOR and then instant brake
I think auto gears makes the worst of shit drivers, just ragging it about like a go cart.

it's stupid o'clock Heathrow
it is sadly :( otherwise we were thinking of cab to nearest liz line

• #118262
Not sure how far your journey is but have you considered cab and overnight airport hotel stop if you have young kids?
-
• #118263
My hand wavey answer to this is that it’s cab drivers using full regenerative braking in hybrids, which means they’re never just coasting- it’s always throttle/brake/throttle/brake etc.
-
• #118264
ah just SE London, nothing drastic; Heathrow is such PITA. My mate who lives in Midlands reaches Heathrow in less time than it takes from SE London.
-
• #118265
Fair do's, cab probably looks the way.
At least you'll have 37 days to get over it, that's almost French level of holiday that.
-
• #118267
haha! dont, its not that bad, I just hate flying so procrastinating and was genuinely curious about these 'parking' services at Heathrow
-
• #118268
Tell your driver that your child will be sitting right behind him and will vomit if he drives without passenger consideration, or words to that effect. Also you will not be paying to clean his car.

I can recommend Twelve Transfers for airport taxi-ing

Basic, budget mechanical disc brakes.. what’s the best place to start to improve performance (levers are off-limits)
Pads, cables, rotors?

Pads, cables, rotors?
Probably cables, pads, rotors, but definitely rotors way below the other two unless you're going down alps on a tandem

Much appreciated thanks.

• #118273
Cables incl. outers I reckon.

• #118274
This is always the answer to stupid o’clock departures.
Get the Lizzy line there and stay in an airport hotel.

Has anyone any experience of buying snorkelling masks with prescription lenses? My wife has always used contact lenses with a normal mask but she is finding them more and more uncomfortable recently.
has anyone used on of those cheaper meet & greet type parkings at Heathrow? I think they meet you at a short stay car park, drive your car and park somewhere.
