I didn't dream it.
Still can't find any uk based for a reasonable shipping time. -

Just the tip?

I daren't go deeper for £3.35. Can't risk another sexy octopus accident.

another bodge, but could you get a pack of long/thin balloons and cut the ends off to size?

I laughed at the time, can't believe I actually want them now.
They'd also be good for stopping the levers being so cold when it's cold.
I always thought this was the biggest benefit of carbon levers.

What about those silicone or whatever covers for glasses arms? Or heavy shrink wrap?

Hello all - I've managed to kill the radio / navigation / comms unit in our VW when I jump-started it last night, thought I knew how to do it, turns out I didn't... although the car did start so at least there's that!
Anyway, long-term - may need to replace that which sounds expensive and a massive PITA, hopefully it's just one of the fuses but haven't managed to work out which to check yet...
So the actual question: can anyone recommend a good phone holder that I can get on Amazon Prime today which clips on the vents, or mounts on the dash and is actually reliable, and solid? There are a million on there and it's impossible to tell which are actually good based on what I assume are largely ficititous reviews and ratings.... Thanks!

I have one of these.

It's good but you need to stick a metal disc to your phone/case which means wireless charging may not work.
Also, generally, be aware of how things stick out and curve on your dash. I can only do landscape with vent mounted holders due to the design of the dash. -

Nice one - looks like a good option, and no problem with putting the disc on the case. This is the interior and the mount would go on the vent right of the screen - do you think that would be ok with the angle of it and that mount?

I'd think so.

Nice one, thanks!

Sp connect and quad lock make good mounts too

Is the best way of moving large sums of money abroad using companies like torfx? Selling our house and moving to France so wondering if I've missed some magic way people transfer money when buying in a new country?
-
• #117192
A mate of mine used Revolut for bringing his house deposit from Europe to the UK and then transferred it into whatever other banks. Paid for the premium version for a month to get fee free fx exchange.

Ah, nice one. Their rate is better than the money transfer sites I've checked out would, work out significantly better off.

My son picked up a "micro:bit" from a library. Not really sure what components go into them but it doesn't look like there's any storage capacity on it so no one could be using them to get remote access or anything silly?

No, but it reminds me I’ve just taken some Juin Tech F1s off my bike, which are now for sale, if anyone’s after a pair.
Perfect working order with spare pads and new rotors. Boxed. Black. PM offers.

I’m going to need to do this soonish. We didn’t sell our London house when we moved to France (because our house was so cheap and knackered that I only had to sell my car to pay for it), but we are going to next year, at which point we will need to transfer it all to Euros.
First time round we used Caxtons but now I’m wondering if I can just do it through my Wise account? -

Is there such a thing as a decent audio to text transcription programme? Looking to save time transcribing meetings.
-
• #117198
There are probably lots of nefarious things you can do with a Micro:bit. As an example you can flash it with Apple AirTag clone software and use it to track the location.

No idea about wise but I signed up for a revolut account yesterday and it took less than a minute.

Chrome has Live Captions that works on any audio, and you can then save/view the transcript
That would work I suppose, would be fairly permanent though.
I'm pretty sure the things I seen weren't a diy bodge like Sugru. I can picture the bike, high spec radavist bro type thing, white industries cranks, dangle bong etc
I laughed at the time, can't believe I actually want them now.
