Hi. I think I've closed one of my threads by mistake, there's a padlock on front of it (on desktop, not phone), and I can no longer edit, add posts, etc. Anyone knows if it is possible to revert this, and how?
Thanks -

Head on over to the mods thread and ask nicely

Done! Thank you!
I'd already asked but in the wrong section of that forum... Duh -

Freewheel issue?

Does anyone else have stupidly wide feet?
Trying to find half-decent looking shoes/trainers and I’m in a hole of weird orthopaedic-looking things -

Finally managed to remove the freewheel with a bmx tool and a 1m pipe. Yep, seems like a spring issue, pawl(s?) aren’t returning despite ample wd40. Trying to remove the faceplate but the dimple for a pin tool are quite shallow and just the right place so that the park tool spa won’t fit :/
Managed to get it out with some heat. Took it apart, broken spring as suspected. Easy fix, should’ve bought two of these bikes.

What’s your idea of half decent style wise?

You likely know, but US shops tend(ed) to have lots of widths. Might be worth paying the import and shipping if it means keeping your feet in good shape. Plus it’s nearly fathers day, which means good discounts.(assuming you’re a bloke or don’t mind men’s shoes)

Something that fits in clips for foot retention, and relatively minimal I guess? Usually black/dark and low rise

I’m a men’s 10EE I think, any suggestions on companies that do that?
-

Does not compute.
You’ll either have to stay with straps and suck up the narrower required shoe or go wide and experience the freedom of platform pedals.
I just got a pair of Splay sneakers that are nice and wide up front (where I need it) and fairly narrow at the back (where I don’t).
Be warned that they are minimalist though; zero heel drop and very thin soles. -

New Balance, Crocs, Skechers.
https://www.widefitshoes.co.uk/collections/view-all-mens-footwear?_=pf&page=2&pf_opt_size=10&pf_opt_width=2E Fill your boots. There’s some fugly models to choose from, but you might find good ones.
If you’re a size 10, width 2e, then you’re on the lowest end of the width scale, just a ‘wide’. If you’re a 10e (as in, eeeeeeeeee), then you should contact a big brand directly, they might do it for the kudos because afaik the scale tops out at 8e, with ultra wide starting at 4e or near there.

Do you also have gills?

• #116866
Me? Nope, bronchi and average width feet.

NB, Sketchers, Clarks - Quite s few options for you at 10EE - look for G width shoes or just Wide. Those are usually EE/G width.
If you want a really impossible task, step into my 12 1/2 EEEE shoes.

Yeah I struggle with just EE, what on earth do you wear?

4E width New Balance that I buy when I go the US - they absolutely refuse to sell them here. Although some of the Merril options are pretty wide too. Some of the newer "woven" style shoes work ok as they have enough give - Brook and Asics in particular - but again I only find them in the US. For cycling shoes, Lake. The only people that do really, really wide cycling shoes for cleats. I would love MTB style flats but I simply cannot find anything that fits, but my SPD use goes back to the mid 90s and it's so second nature it doesn't really matter.
My lottery win business would be a shoe company that only makes and sells extra wide casual shoes.

To be fair, I’ve always used these large ones which are nice and roomy.

The world really needs this. Fingers crossed!

I've recently discovered Altra, which are super comfortable, if a bit ortho-nerd

Those f reewheels do look similar to SA ones.
Maybe butcher one up and check?

Zipcar update.
I’ve been refunded the full amount to my credit card.
Trying to ID and fix an issue with this rear electric motor hub. It has a carbon belt but I can’t ID the brand, can someone recognise it?
Something in the hub seems to be disengaging, as the pedals spin freely without moving the rear wheel, and sometimes randomly do engage.
— found it. Brand is Analog Motion.
