  • Does anyone have a recommendation for big sturdy photo albums?

Bump, before I buy a couple from Paperchase

  • BBC good food one, I used lentils instead of mushrooms, and also wilted spinach with boiling water. Just finished cooking the first half of tenderloin. Looks ok, might taste rank!

    Edit, it was fine

  • Same as @grams I'd go for IKEA ones. Lots of other options which are likely rebranded eneloops

    https://eneloop101.com/batteries/rewrapped-batteries/

  • Is there such a thing as a hygienic bog brush? I don't want one of those bristle shit/toilet paper magnet things. We have never had one but my son's girlfriend apparently moans because we don't have one!

  • Check out the recent discussion on I Hate?

  • It's in the technique... flush, then within the running flush time you need to quickly scrub round, then hold the brush head in the flow of the flush, to rinse out any undesired remnants

You may occasionally need two flushes to achieve all of this and actual pan cleanliness, but this should be balanced out by not flushing for a small, inoffensive piss.

  • ^ very much this. Pancraft.

  • For pancraft to be successful every member of the household has to be proficient in it, I guarantee that would not be possible here.

  • At what pancraft level do you get taught laying down a single sheet of paper against the rear of the basin to reduce the chance of skidmark?

  • And rolling several sheets into a spliff style shape to eradicate some just under the surface remnants (sans bog brush). Black belt skills there.

  • Ah. The turd toboggan technique.

  • my son's girlfriend apparently moans because we don't have one

maybe your son's girlfriend could shit at home then?

  • genuine lol

  • She doesn't sound like a keeper, to be fair.

  • It is funny that you say that, apparently she won't shit at our house!

  • "Don't shit on your own doorstep."

Subconsciously or not, she's signalling that this relationship isn't a longterm one.

At this point she's probably just in it for the Xmas pressies.

  • When did lamp brackets on forks stop being a thing ?

  • Thanks

  • 1 inch or 1 1/8th? Is a headset spacer mount not possible? GoPro mount type or others are available.

(loads of other possibilities if you don't want the light on your bars - incl. using rack mounts, axle ends, brake holes, etc. - maybe look in the hacks and bodges thread for some good ones)

Jurek probably is only a decade out though - I can't remember anything past the early/mid 1980s with them.

Edit: I initially thought you were trying to fix an old lamp to a new bike.

  • 1972

Or maybe after 1982, since the Dawes T2 in the 1982 catalogue still has one

  • 1983 Raleigh Stratos...

Can't find a good pic, but the 1983/4 Raleigh Royal looks to have them.

  • We're homing in on the end of lamp bosses on UK OTP bikes, by 1984 Dawes seemed to have dropped them and fitted dynamo brackets to the light tourer model, and the Galaxy acquired a front rack making fork mounted lights impossible.

By 1980, our house switched to the new Wonder lights which clamped to the bars and didn't explode when you hit a bump, Ever Ready quickly brought out a competitor product (Night Rider) and the lamp boss became redundant.

  • By 1980, our house switched to the new Wonder lights

They were game changers but still incredibly shite by today's standards. Can't believe what we had to put up with in terms of lights back then!
