Our gas furnace had an emergency shut off switch in our kitchen. The switch looked like a regular light switch and we never knew what it was for.
A repairman figured it out when our furnace would not ignite. -

well damn, I've got like 3 switches in the kitchen I have no idea what they do. Time to test them all. It took me about a month to work out how to use the ridiculous garbage disposal this house came with.

Where’s the best place to buy pre-cut heli-tape chainstay protection, in both matte and gloss?

Do i use actual or effective top tube length to calculate stack and reach?
-
• #115006
Effective will be easier maths I would guess as then your "top tube" will be horizontal, same as the reach measurement
-
• #115007
Ta, i have both actual and effective measurements from the geo chart so should i stick with effective?
Also, do i include external lower headset stack into headtube length?

Doesn't matter, you're going to have to have a comprehensive set of dimensions to do the calculation, once you're in that deep having one of the dimensions being a virtual horizontal projection doesn't really simplify things, and you'd have to check that the person supplying the number had got his maths right anyway.

It's relevant if you're including the fork dimensions in your calculation rather than assuming that the angles will be as shown in the geometry table. If you're using the stock fork and headset and trust the table, the fork and lower headset are not part of your calculation.

I have all the dimensions below from the manufacturer, are you saying they are not enough to use the SR calculator?

Yes including the fork dimensions, i have the lower stack from the headset manufacturer so i'll include that

They look sufficient to use the specified random number generator, but they won't give you the actual stack and reach because that calculator doesn't have the inputs needed to do so, except in the case of frames where the head and seat angles are identical. The errors are small enough to ignore in most practical cases.

Good enough for me, thanks

After a day with my laser cutter I'm ready to sell it and get a Silhouette. The stink, the complexity....it's a nightmare. It needs to be in the hands of a techie with a shed. It's got a great big fucking LASER for chrissake. It's water cooled, with a camera and all sorts.

I've got a Silhouette Cameo. Only ever used it on vinyl, but it's never let me down so far.
-
• #115016
Is the software difficult to learn?
-
• #115017
No, not really. The UI isn't exactly intuitive but the software is fairly straightforward.

The lasers at work (Gravograph and HPC) had activated charcoal filters in the extractors - there was only a stink when over-enthusiastic students opened the lid too soon.
Please say you've got some sort of fume extraction, even if it's just a duct out of a window? -

I've been asked to make a pdf with some links to videos. But is it possible to embed the video within the document itself?
-
• #115020
not in the sense that they can click the video and it'll play from its location online like you could drop a youtube link in here
you can add the video to the PDF, but obviously the file size will bloat and people will get pissed at you sending around huge emails -
• #115021
Yeah file size is the concern here. My boss doesn't really know what he wants and has gone on holiday until Monday.

duct out of a window
I could rig that up, but it means siting the machine in the bathroom. And I'd prefer this to be one of my sitting-down-in-front-of-the-telly diversions, as I have ME and get too tired standing up.

Thanks. Now shopping for a Silhouette Cameo 4
-
• #115024
I use a Silhouette Cameo 4, slightly sceptical that it will cut leather, but plenty of evidence online to suggest it is possible

I’m flying from Heathrow, UK to Boston, USA, then a connecting flight to Florida, USA. It’s all one booking with same airline for all flights.
Do I have to collect my luggage and re-check it for the connecting flight? Or does the airline transfer it? First time doing this.
Just popped up today, that section used to be part of the background burgundy colour, now it’s almost the same shade as the rest of my read messages. Pissing me off.
I’m also bragging that I have no unread messages… not really.
Kind of.
