Machining the spider to rotate it by 36° on a Sram crank. Imminent fiery death surely?

i’m not getting on with my shimano 10spd road shifters. they feel too light and vague and i am a brute and obviously don’t have a sensitive enough touch. will 10spd sram suit me better maybe? i can’t go campag cos of freehubs and already existing components

10-speed Rival is definitely heavier spring than Shimano. I like SRAM but my main argument against it is you can’t shift easily when braking and it needs a lot of moving your hands around. Shimano is a LOT better for commuting in traffic, for example. For weekend rides, though, I still like SRAM.

What shifters are you using?

Hammersmith Apollo - seeing the flaming lips with a child (12) best to go for circle seated or stalls standing? Concern is if standing she won't see much
I haven't been there in years.

Standing. Get there early, be at the front. Gig goers are nice to kids, I’ve successfully used mine to get to the front many many times. Most recently on Thursday.

Tester once mentioned Walker Brothers for a shimano fixed adapter. Anyone have experience with one?

The Walker Bros one is a functional copy of the original Sub11/Surly Fixxer. I've used a Surly Fixxer on my race bike for over a decade, and another on some equally old but less used spare wheels. It works, but only with specific hubs. That means quite a few legacy Shimano models, but nothing current that you wouldn't be better off just replacing with either a proper track hub or a converted 6-bolt disc front hub.

Gotcha. It did seem like the WH-9000s freehub had two more spines then the one in the Walker Bros diagram.

Japanese experts: how can Yellow Corn mean Dangerous Warrior? Yellow Corn is a Japanese motorcycle clothing company. Perhaps it's a sort of Engrish play on words? http://www.yellowcorn.co.jp/company/ They are very jokey in their use of brands and logos.

Also bigger diameter on both the spline and the body fixing bolt. You can forget about converting anything which doesn't use a 10mm steel axle with a standard Fixxer. The WH-9000 would be amenable to conversion with a new design of Fixxer-type device sized to suit, but the cost would be prohibitive.

Not sure why you'd want to, but if you think the splines are what's actually transmitting torque*, then you'd be using 7 instead of 10. Fiery death doesn't seem all that imminent.

Thanks for the link.
I was concerned about the lack of real estate left after counterboring the holes.
I'd like to do away with the hidden fifth bolt on a force crankset.
I've found an auction on a s950 spider after all so probably won't have to resort to the bodge.

Ceramic coatings for bikes, like gtechniq, are they any good? I like the idea of dirt/water not really sticking the the paint. Anyone had any experience?

Excuse the reflectoporn but it's dark.
They have 130bcd (like this one) and 110bcd.
Search for adapter gxp/adapter 3 bolt.
I'll have a look in my order history too

Is there a way to get a dark mode on the forum? Looked but couldn’t find an option.
You have to send back the old before they will send you the new. Did mine in September. Application online on the 14th, old posted in the 15th, new passport received on the 30th.
