I posted one on the bike porn thread. Found it on a Sea Otter Classic report. Made by TRP.
http://reviews.roadbikereview.com/sea-otter-classic-2011-trp-parabox-disc-brake-systemA) they're not out yet.
B) They are talking about selling them as a complete system only. -

Nothing commercially available yet, give it 6 months to a year as a couple of manufacturers have been showing things in various stages of prototype, Ashima definitely and I think Tektro [see TRP above], Hope have done some as one-offs too and might be tempted by the CX market, and SRAM/Avid could go that way, or they might squeeze a master cylinder into the Doubetap body.

Would also like an answer on this! Anyone?
Maybe we should do 3kg orders and divide them 50/50?

I had found that TRP one, also a 324 labs unit that looks straightforward to make yourself- with a CNC lathe.
I am sure I have seen another unit, on here, maybe posted by Snoops? Two units, one for each lever.

I don't see why the cable>hydro adapters are taking so long. I used a CX bike with a home made job to Magura HS33's about 8yrs ago. Amazing job, especially with the ceramic rims. Would love to ride that bike again. It's a pretty simple thing to make so for a large company it should only take a month to to make, they've had plenty of time to refine everything.
It shouldn't be too difficult to make a proper hydro STI either. A standard hood brake with hydro would be even easier as you don't have to work around the gears

Aren't Shimano developing a CX groupset with hydraulic discs?
I wonder if they need a couple of seasons of CX racing with discs allowed. Time in which frames (and attitudes towards discs!) can be developed so there is a ready market for Shimano's product.

the market is already there, they dont have to wait...
I read somewhere that SRAM will be realising one for this coming winter

SRAM are rumoured to be working on hydraulic discs for road levers for cyclocross, Shimano's plans are unknown but it wouldn't surprise me if they aren't doing the same.
What I don't understand is why it needed the UCI to lift the ban on disc brakes in cyclocross for these innovations to start. The majority of cyclocross bikes that are sold are used by commuters and casual riders, with only a small percentage ever being raced, so the market was already there.

It's an odd one for sure, as you say the Market was there already.
However that goes for the Market for converter/adapters also, and no one has come out with them either.
Maybe CX bikes are simply not sold in the kind of volume that makes the equipment attractive to the likes of SRAM?

in photoshop how do you link blur filters to a layer mask?
ie i have a layer and i only want to put the blur in a bit of it, for which i have used a gradient on a layer mask. -

In cyclocross racing or in cycling?
Because there are many bikes sold using cable discs and drop bars.

Or dupe layer, blur one then mask it.

I think because the first systems will be high end, as usual with any innovation, and racers tend to be the ones who have the resources and inclination to try new stuff in the first, expensive, generation. Manufacturers can also have very direct feedback loops with sponsored riders, issuing new iterations of improved product straight to end users without having problems with stock all over the supply chain.
Once the racers have shown up the weak points, everybody can work out where corners can be cut to move the price point down the groupset tiers.

Just added up my bank charges and it's pretty scary. I remember hearing that you could claim them back. Can anyone explain if anything can be done and if so, what?
-
• #10919
I think you have missed the boat on that one I am afraid, unless someone knows different?
-
• #10920
Can still be done.
Sometimes.

Not sure whether there's a statute of limitations, but in general you should be able to reclaim charges which are excessive, although banks seem to have been given a major free ride on the definition of excessive so don't get over excited about anything under £20 a pop.

Thanks for the links. Looks like I have some reading to do.

It's not worth it if you have an overdraft or other financial products with the bank.
They will try to make a pariah of you - close and downgrade your current accounts. Some consequences like being bankrupt, but with more cash in your pocket.

You can always call them up and have an argument with them about it if you believe they are unfair.
I did and they refunded me a couple of times. You need to be polite and persistent. -

They couldn't understand your accent and gave you £20 to get you off the phone?
Do you have a Julian Graves in London? http://www.juliangraves.com/branchfinder
It's were I get all my nuts, dried babana/raisins/bombay mix etc. from.
