If you mean that doing nice steel frames with lug+fillet is flying too close to the sun ... Then yes he did

This is a long shot - does anyone have an old Maplin catalogue knocking about from the mid 90s?
Wondering if you can look up some loudspeaker parameters for the Eminence 600W 18" driver they used to sell...

I don't, but have you checked here:

Just had a look, not on there unfortunately.
Have emailed Eminence on the off-chance, but not got my hopes up. Serial number on the speaker says February 1995 - I suddenly feel old!

My sister is going to do a little tour in scotland with some pals on her boardman hybrid, which has suspension. It's a road tour, she only rides paved or very very light offroad and she wants to shed some weight from the bike so I thought swapping out the fork might be a goer. The a-c measurement is about 490mm. The closest I can find is the Toseek 29er forks on ebay. Are there other options or is this futile?

What's the headset spec?

Errr 1 1/8" straight steerer, cups integrated into headtube, does that answer your question?
-
• #108411
Yes, and getting that down will stop people wasting your tine by suggesting inappropriate tapered forks 🙂
You'll want to say what kind of brake fitting and axle you need too. -
• #108412
Aha! Thanks yes. Post mount disc, qr :)

Budget? Something MRP still do their rock solid forks with straight steerer and at, I expect their 29er model would be around 480-490mm but £££.
eXotic did one too but looks to be out of stock and has weight limit

As cheap as possible, it's just a boardman hybrid job

You might be able to find something from a specilized sirrus or trek equivalent?

your tine ... forks
Oh very good, deliberate I'm sure

Some one on here makes mens jewellery, or knows someone who does, or has a rather nice looking skull ring? Bit vague sorry.

I really wouldn't bother - especially if she's loaded, she won't notice a few hundred grams here and there. Leave the bike as she's used to it (assuming it all currently works) and put a lower gear if she's really concerned about getting up hills. Touring is not racing.

yes! that was the post I was looking for

I know they're not going anywhere fast but she did a ride with her pal she's touring with and was miserable with the amount of effort it took to keep up with her on her gravel bike.
I've swapped out the 28c marathon plus for 35c sport contacts so that should really help but can't help but think she's going to be throwing a load of energy into the suspension when just riding along, especially loaded up.

They look a little too short unfortunately!
-
• #108424
Can the suspension lock-out? I was talking about weight savings, def see value in stopping the bouncy detracting from energy input...

Probably been answered before but...
I'm looking for a good torque wrench, ~20-100Nm ish, must be reversible so as to measure torque in both directions (for bottom brackets/pedals etc).
I've got a Draper 20-100Nm one currently, but despite coming with a calibration certificate it needs persuading to deliver a consistent reading. Not averse to spending what's necessary to get something reliable.
I also have a Syntace 1-25Nm, was looking at the 20-100Nm version but it's unclear as to whether it measures torque in both directions, and difficult to find someone who will ship it to me in the UK...
Both in feather weight division?
