I need to attach a 1/2" garden hose to a bucket with a watertight seal. What's the best way of doing this? I'm lost in a world of plumbing fittings.

Drill hole in bucket, Chuck one of these through the hole, hose clamp the hose to the coupler, slather the lot in silicone on all the contact surfaces.

I don’t see why not.

You could either put the threaded end through the hole in the bucket (rubber washers may help it seal, along with the silicone), but you’ll need the right nut to go with it.

Failing that, just put the thin bit through the hole in the bucket, and push the hose as tight as you can then tighten the hose clip.

I reckon the method with the nut + rubber washers would work better. Someone will probably come along and recommend a better suited hose fitting/coupler.

Has anyone a suggestion for a free, easy to use video editing program? My mum has a recording she did on her tablet that she needs to cut a few parts from and upload for a course she's doing. She recorded it in one big long clip (total is an hour) but it split it into 3 files so they need to be joined up too. Any of the apps she's tried haven't worked for her.

I think it would be a 2 minute job if I could find a decent program but all the ones I've found seem to be really in depth or have restrictions on the free versions.

Garmin Virb Edit is fairly straightforward for simple editing jobs. Doesn't need any Garmin hardware.

Or are you hoping to run it on the (Android?) tablet?

The most basic solution on the Mac is Quicktime Player, after opening a clip, the Edit menu has "Add clip to end" and Trim options which is what she should look for. I've done numerous videos with just those two options.

Sram dub crankset installation on a BSA frame, installed with 3mm washer on drive side as per instructions - now the front derailleur, which was set up to work with a GXP bottom bracket, isn't aligned with the crankset. The crankset is several mm too far outboard. Is it as simple a fix as removing the 3mm spacer?

What width is your bb shell? And the crankset spindle?

Replying again in case you’re waiting for a notification. When you say the crankset is several mm outboard, is that with the nds crank installed or are you not able to install it? Or is it that the front derailleur shift far enough to cover the crankset?

If the tablet is an iPad, tap edit when viewing the video in photos.app. Move the start/end markers, select save as new clip, done.

Installed the full crankset (ds + NDS), with the 3mm spacer on the drive side. The front derailleur is struggling to move the chain up from the smaller chainring to the big one. I'm not sure if I should re-adjust the front derailleur, or remove the 3mm spacer.

For reference, the old GXP bottom bracket didn't have any spacers installed...

My bad, I meant BB shell width side to side (from nds to ds), and spindle length (not width). The reason I ask is that GXP come in 68mm and 73mm. See pic below to find yours.

You’ve installed the crankset to full torque: does it spin freely and without play? If yes and you’re confident at adjusting the front derailleur, then try adjusting the derailleur.

Edit- cloudy minded right now but from what you’ve written it sounds like it should be properly installed with that 3mm spacer, which is the minimum for that BB.

Interesting, this is what's so confusing. This is the resource I've been using, which recommends a 3mm spacer on the drive side.
The crank does spin freely, though there was no need for me to use the bearing pre load adjustment collar, as the cranks had no play in them when installing.

Hmm... I am thinking of pop sci books so wondering if abstract wouldn't sound a bit pretentious, as if I've been plowing through cutting edge research reports. But then again, who am I to know.
