  • That's not the tip, it's someone's car.

  • Looks like someone's habitat to me.

  • If you look carefully, there’s a Greenpeace protestor chained himself to the steering wheel.

Edit got my activists muddled up.

  • Any tips for tightening this Ritchey one bolt clamp before I try something different? I've bought the 7x9.6mm topper, assembled with carbon paste, torqued up, but still saddle will pivot in the cradle with a bit of a yank.

  • Did you really watch that closely? Virtually all the spills looked harmless and as tester said, if you're close to a wall when you're learning the chances of falling over are almost nil.

  • My problem is the spaces I could fit one in are full of stuff that would have various different poor outcomes if I fell on it. I'll just go out and ride or run, its easier than adapting my rooms so I can fall over in them! I get what you're saying though, the risk of serious injury is not that huge, probably less than riding round central London.

I'm nursing an elbow injury at the moment so I've cut back on work but it's left me needing some exercise because I like beer :) I had been riding the bikes at the gym and that would have been enough.

Thanks for the encouragement and answers though. I like the idea of the fancy setups but not worth it for a short period of time and I'm normally cycling all over the place for work as well as having a physical job so aerobic exercise takes care of itself.

  • I hate indoor/stationery training generally. But rollers makes it slightly more bearable as you have to think a bit about keeping the bike upright (although that diminishes quickly as once you've cracked it, it's straightforward).

It can get a bit interesting if you're doing flat out efforts mind.

  • Are all people who ride LOOK bikes cool as fuck?

Asking because all people I see riding LOOK bikes lately do look cool as fuck.

  • I have a 9sp Sora R3000 shifter that has started to mis shift when clicking down the cassette 16t to 15t etc and it doesn't release the cable even with the paddle fully shifted.
Usually this seems to be an indication the cable might be about to go but having replaced and inspected it this is still happening.
Annoyingly when I took the cover and hood off it and pulled on the end of cable it appeared to release the cable fine.
Is it 'they're all like this sir' or is there something I can inspect or do to fix it?

  • FYI. I think the cassette is fine. Although the dark marks are not grease or wax as I’d hoped; they are some form of corrosion that I haven’t seen before.

  • Most of us are.

  • what's this type of t-shirt called where the arms and shoulders are one colour and the torso is white?

    Cheers.

  • Raglan sleeve

  • or a baseball tshirt

  • Raglan is the cut rather than the fact the sleeves are a different colour to the body.

  • Going to get some forks made from flat bar steel for a trailer that I’m putting together. What thickness/gauge should I specify? The design is just a bar bent in half around a ISO 203 wheel with one side bolted to a box frame.

  • Pinch bolts for Shimano 6700 crank that aren’t made of cheese?

  • Stock bolts are fine unless you're clumsy, but I don' think there's anything weird about the size so knock yourself out with Unbrako 12.9 screws from your local hardware shop if you like, they are far stronger than necessary.

  • What thickness/gauge should I specify?

How much weight is going on the trailer? You're going to have to do the maths.

  • Max about 50kg.
Wouldn’t know where to start with the figuring, that’s why I’m here.

  • Just to be clear, it’s a two wheeled trailer.

  • Wouldn’t know where to start with the figuring

Start with a regular fork blade, calculate how stiff it is, reduce the requirement based on the shorter length, smaller load & twice as many elements, et voila, you have a desired moment of inertia from which you can reverse engineer a solid rectangular beam.

A back of the fag packet calculation suggests that deflection will be roughly equal to a Reynolds 631 29er Unicrown if the trailer forks are made from ⅞" wide and ⅜" thick steel. If your stockholder is Quebecois, 20mm×10mm will do the job too.

  • What size wheel..? buy a bmx fork if 20”?
