i need some decent running shoes as i'm convinced the gym shoes i have at the moment are giving me chronic shin splints to the point where i'm limping after a mile (being fat and unfit also doesn't help).
there's also no fucking way i'm going anywhere near a shoe shop to remedy this matter.
is buying shoes online for this purpose a fools errand?

I'm in Whitechaple. Thanks jj72 and snottyotter.

Can you take a pic of the soles of your current shoes?

It's a strange fetish of mine. Thx

That sounds pretty reasonable tbh, the cost goes way way up if you're not dropping the vehicle off in the same place you're renting it from. I know it's not the same thing but years ago I had to rent a van from Ljubljana to get 9 people back to Leeds after my van broke down there. The rental company were charging peanuts per day but wanted an extra £2000 if I wanted to leave the van in Leeds. I ended up just sucking it up and driving it back to Ljubljana and flying home.

I think the Lifeline Performance tape is very similar to this. I put it on my GF's bike and I'm very jealous when I feel her bars

Thanks (and @Emyr). I reckon the price difference between A-A and A-B is about £100, which isn't so much more than the extra cost of fuel for the second leg if we drive - we might just suck up the difference in order to not have to drive both ways and to save a day's annual leave.

The Fabric Logo bar tape is also similar.

Yeah that sounds like the best bet! By the time you've paid the extra in fuel and a train ticket back it'll definitely even out. Might as well save yourselves the hassle!

Meanwhile, if anyone needs something driven from London to Glasgow for a reasonable fee, let me know...

I followed the Brooks fitting guide and am incredibly happy with the pair I ended up with as a result.

funny you should mention that because that's exactly what i was looking at but moments ago.
some of the reading i've been doing suggests you should consider going up half a size to accommodate foot swelling. stone cold bollocks?
ps this is a wonderful bit of design.

I'll go and check them VS something else.

Nope true to size (42) Converse are 42 too. I have quite wide feet so often size up. But Brooks have a number of width options so that wasn't an issue.
Ymmv obvs.
Mine are slightly mixed surface ones so don't know if that makes a difference and they are snug. Never had issues tho and they're the best sports trainers I've owned. Maybe check in the running thread as that's where I read about Brooks. Never heard of them before.

yeah i considered the running thread but too nooblol right now. besides, you've been more than helpful.
am i imagining things or have i seen Brooks trainers at TK Maxx circa 2019 BC?

Possibly I got an older model from a cheaper discount website. Although I did also buy a much cheaper pair, new, off ebay that I wasn't happy with. Iirc the narrow light weight ones are easier to find cheap.
Originally I was all set to go to a proper shop, but fuck me running trainers from running shops are expensive.
-
• #103494
yeah that's a strong shout about the discount options being the more ubiquitous, thin soled, lighter models.
think i'll go full fat OTP, at least that way i get the return option baked in to the deal.
thanks again!

Canada- is it a civilised version of the USA, as it appears from a distance, or are they simply doing a good job of hiding their insanity?
-
• #103496
Our insanity is scaled to our population, thus seems tame compared to Usonia.

More like a less civilised version of NZ

I recommend moving to Winnipeg. 100% of people I've met from Winnipeg have been very sound.

I need a headset for a 2006 Trek 1500 SLR.
I'm fairly sure I need one like this:
https://www.bike24.com/p2166586.htmlAnyone know a dealer/source in the UK?
Or an alternative option from another manufacturer?
Book it in and be nice about it taking a while and all will be well.
