@Howard @user69121 thanks for the tips. I ended up with this:
Worked a charm

Wicked, thanks :). Think she’s pretty hyped to get her bike back all spruced up!

Does anyone know the bolt size (/where I can buy them for cheap) for a Sram trigger clamp, my only other option is to pay £12+ for a new clamp with a bolt and that seems like admitting defeat.

Have you measured the existing one?
Likely a 5 or 4mm. -

Comfortable. Strong.

Gotcha, thanks.

If the reduced shank is functionally necessary, you're stuck with getting the complete clamp. SRAM don't list the bolt as a separate spare part.
You could file the threads off the relevant pat of an ordinary screw, which is a cheap fix if you're furloughed but a poor use of your time if you're still doing your day job.
You could pay €17.99 to get Ti replacements from Switzerland and justify the expense as a bling upgrade, plus you'd have a spare if you're running 1×

Looks like a good effort! I went with Skandihus in the end, purely based on the fact that the stuff they have for sale in their web shop is more my mum's style and I wanted to pair the voucher with something produced by the place she's going to. Would love to have a punt at some ceramics myself, I'll have to try and convince my girlfriend to give it a try as well.

Why not suggest picking something up secondhand from eBay or the classifieds here? Obviously saddles are very personal so it's impossible to point to a particular model and say "that will be comfortable". If they're not sure what they want it might be best to try a few different types out before settling on one. I can't imagine second hand saddles deprecate much if they're sold on in the same condition they're bought. Once they've worked out what's comfortable they can decide what's more important to them, cost (keep second hand version) or weight (buy posh, carbon railed version of same saddle or whatever).

I don’t think the reduced thread is necessary personally, the issue is that the bolt is the same width as some that I have knocking about but the counter sunk area for the head is smaller than the heads for those bolts.

Not sure where to ask this, but in case anyone's recently done the 1x MTB legwork and I can learn from them:
Looking to move an XT triple from my 29er to a tourer (keeping brakes though). There are a lot of 1x options now, but figure NX or SLX is fine. Any deals I may have missed online before I pull the trigger on something?

• #102115
There's a load of new shimano on the way, 1x12 deore if you want a new microspline hub, that looks good, or 1x11 or 10 updated deore if you don't, or pick up older 11 speed SLX. I've got the 12 speed SLX and it's great.
-
• #102116
Cheers, dude, but zero interest in fucking around with a free hub body (or worse, getting new wheels)! More interested in cheap and cheerful swap. Because lazy and incompetent. I figure SLX is the easiest option and it'll work with the XT bits that stay on. I guess I'll just find the cheapest 11/12 group I can find.
-
• #102117
In that case grab M7000 SLX or see what the updated 11 speed deore 5100 is priced like. What model XT stuff is staying on?
-
• #102118
Deore XT 780-10 3x10. But just keeping the brake levers/calipers (the bike they're going on to isn't disc, plus the brakes are lush. Adrienne doesn't need them on her tourer).
-
• #102119
Yeah, either of those drivechains then, SLX is about £250, dunno about the deore yet.
-
• #102120
Or SRAM I guess.
-
• #102121
Yeah, eyeing up this https://www.bike-components.de/en/Shimano/SLX-M7000-1x11-32-Groupset-p65605/ as it's the cheapest I've found (although need to remember to get a BB as well).
-
• #102122
It's all currently available from madison as a bundle including BB, I reckon your LBS could match/beat that price and still make a profit, worth having a word with them as its basically money for them for clicking a few buttons and passing the stuff to you.

Good shout.

If not a could probably sort it and send it on, but seems a bit of a roundabout way of doing it with unnecessary postage.

OR! come visit and install it all. Result.
Fabric do some affordable saddles that get good reviews for comfort. They’re not very heavy
