  • ^This is the correct answer. I had to space out my front brake this past weekend to add in a light mount - a couple of thicker washers from the bucket o' bits and and a long brake bolt.

  • I've happily used Gilles Berthoud 26" x 60mm over a pair of 650b x 47mm tyres. 2" isn't that far off from 47mm so they might work for you as well? The only drawback really is that the rear one is a bit short as can be seen here.

  • when going from an old rockshox recon 351 fork to a rigid fork. Are there any rules for axle to crown measurement?

  • Suspension corrected forks. I'll say they usually are 450mm+

  • Damn, this one is 410mm. Let's see if I can cancel the order.

  • Measure the a-c of the suspension fork, preferably while sagged.
If you can't measure it while sagged, measure it fully extended and then subtract 25-30% of the total travel.
Bear in mind that the frame will be designed to work within the range of travel, so if you get a rigid fork with slightly less a-c (but not less than the suspension fork fully compressed), it should still steer within the boundaries of acceptability.

  • raw measurement is 480mm for the susp fork, so 410mm for the rigid fork seems to big a difference. Seems to be a too big of a pain to source components for a frame I don't even like that much.

  • How do tumble driers know when the water container is full?

  • A float switch.

  • which would presumably need to be inside or dangling into the big long water collection box?

    i see no such thing

  • Could be a capacitance sensor on the outside?

  • I don't think you'll have much luck.
I doubt a nutted axle would fit the DT hub. Most of the other 14mm nutted axles I see are on bmx, jump bikes and e bike hubs.

Also, is that a 48h hub?
What is this bike you have?

  • Could be a magnet that floats in a channel , triggering a switch on the outside of the box.

  • Yeah, I've given up on the idea.
Yep it's 48h - The stock back wheel on a yuba mundo.

  • Not necessarily. Might be a tube with a floaty thing on it. Alternatively it could be a capacitive switch with metal contacts on the wall of the water chamber - the capacity will change if they're covered by water rather than air.

If none of the above then magnets.

  • If none of the above then magic.

    fixed

  • I reckon it's a doohickey but can't be sure

  • Why is the search box so useless on here? I type in one unique word that has come up multiple times and there are no results. I type the same word in Google along with "LFGSS" and I get every hit.

  • I agree, it's not good. But make sure you select 'Title matched search terms' and select 'Comments'

  • Yeah did that, still nothing.

  • Why is the search box so useless on here?

Because good search done cheaply is like the hardest thing ever. And search isn't this forum's business.

I type the same word in Google along with "LFGSS" and I get every hit.

    But it is Google's business.

  • search isn't this forum's business.

It is. Velocio has explicitly said that every page you load is a search result. Also, the search on here is pretty good under the hood, although it still needs a better user interface. If you can be arsed, you can hack it to match multiple parameters. I can't remember whether we were promised a decent interface, but I've long since given up hope of getting one even if we were.
