Hi tourists. Can anyone suggest a cheapo version of this? They don't need to be waterproof, we've got Ortliebs, but I'd really like different colours so it's easier to find stuff.
I'm sure I can find some cheap shoebags or something in whatever the equivalent of Woolworths is these days, just thought I'd ask in case anyone's got any top tips. -

Alpkit maybe?

I have been using Pack cells not too expensive but very hard wearing and light

If it doesn't need to be waterproof, there's no need for a roll down closure.
Nylon shopping bag and tie the handles together? -

Drawstring shoe bags work a treat, I've been using them with different coloured ribbon tied to them so I can differentiate (I have a lot of identical ones), just wondering if anyone's come across packs of four in a pound shop or something. I'm sure they exist; will investigate and report back.

mapswithme - really great app that lets you download gps maps for free to your iphone so you can use your phone abroad as GPS for free. Because they're open source they actually often better for small roads and trails that google maps doesn't have.

I've bought a touring table.
I don't care, you guys suck and you're all jealous because you don't have a table
(preemptive)

Did you also have a touring chair and touring toaster?
-
• #2685
We're taking the two chairs yes because they're AWESOME but the toaster isn't that great and it's a nightmare trying to sort butter so that's staying at home.

How many panniers do you?

Yep :D
Nice. Want.

Any advices on down sleeping bags under £80 that pack down really small?
-
• #2692
Afraid £80 might not be feasible for a compact zero degree down bag, only one I can think of is the Deuter Orbit, but that about it.

4 (on a tandem). Clothes in the front two, everything else in the rear two, tent on top of the rack. Possibly also table on top of the rack, not sure how/if that's going to work yet. (We'll make it work.)

http://www.podsacs.com/ - essentially just planetx site with no bike stuff lol

The pod sac stuff is also available at planet x / on-one sites. I just took a delivery of some basic stuff sacks and a few eVent fabric dry bags. Nice initial impression on the eVent bags, quality looks good and being able to squeeze out air seems really handy.

I know it isn't going to the most lightweight thing or anything but Tesco up here has inflatable camping pillows for £1.

Speak to Jordan at BIGXTOP, he's just made me a lovely klickfix barbag perfect for exactly as you suggest. Bonus is it's hand made by a young person in BROKEN BRITAIN.

I think I'll have one of those, will have to wait till pay day though.

Moved to Madrid yesterday and stuffed the bike box with all my touring kit. Hope to have some time around spring to travel up to the pyrenees.
Since moving to the colonies I've been forced off-road by the drivers, so I use a print-out of a 1:50,000 map (or bought ones since they are so cheap) to help identify the correct gravel road/4WD track/goat path/off-piste route. It's not quite map-and-compass stuff but I've had a few confused moments...
