  • Does anyone have any good recommendations for a pump for taking on trips?
Something light, but good for high pressures?

    http://www.wiggle.co.uk/lezyne-road-drive-mini-abs-pump/

  • Can vouch for that, I got the long version and it work brilliantly on my 3,000km tour.

  • Topeak morph has worked well for me.

  • Specialized Mini thing from Evans is good too: small / alu / valve clamp / cage mount.

  • Thanks for the recommendations

  • If you want something with a gauge you could look into Topeak turbo morph. I've Ben using mine as my main pump for four or five years and I've only just needed to replace the seals. It's about ten inches long and straps to a tube nicely - so a bit bigger than some others but easier to use.

  • I have used the search, but I was wondering if anybody has recommendations for a tent to use on a one man fully loaded tour in new zealand for maximum £150?

  • Really? cause searching for tent bring up what you're looking for (second result).

  • yeah but most of those seem to be £300+ which I cannot afford

  • Hi there,
I have a Terra Nova Laser Competition 1 man tent that I was considering selling for £90. One, two week tour, well treated and most of the stupid tooth pick ti pegs + some normal (useful ones:-) If you're interested?
I've been thinking about putting my tour stuff up here for a while, now seems good:)

  • I'll drop you a pm, sounds good!

  • Replied:)

  • I'm thinking of cycling (and possibly training depending on how much time I can get off work) to a festival in Versmold, Germany and back next summer. It'll work out as round about 1000 miles in total. Without reading through the 37 pages of this thread are there any good sources of information anyone can suggest for someone who's never done anything like this before?

  • http://travellingtwo.com/ has a good amount of info

  • Cheers, that looks really useful!

  • Just bought a large RePack C from bikepack.eu, any experience with these? I am NOT using this for touring, it's a backpack alternative on the commuter bike. Large one is mentioned 8 to 12 liters which would be more than enough for what I carry everyday.

    Any experience with these bags?

  • I used the repack for a weeks cycling in France. Should be more than enough for every day needs. You need to try and get the heavier items closest to the seat post as it can swing when your out the saddle.

Then you'll need to practised a lots to get the hang of it, because the nature of the bag is basically a compressor with strap to fit on the seatpost/saddle, you'll need to tighten it enough to prevent it from swinging.

You can't just put few items in it, it need to be filled enough to compress it.

Great for touring and long ride, not so much for commuting.

  • I love my saddlebag but for the life of me I can't get it to sit straight and the velcro to do up completely on a lay back seatpost.

    Any ideas?

  • I'm just waiting for some hoop and loop velcro straps to come in the post so I can strap this.......

under my saddle behind the seat post......

It's a 20L compression sack, and I intend to strap it on to the saddle rails and an addtional two staps around the seat post. Can the wise see any possible unforeseen issues with this setup????

  • 20l is a lot. The BRP saddlebags use 13l drybags and they have quite a bit of structure to stop them swinging around and to make it narrow where your legs will be.

what do plan to put in it?

  • 20L is almost overkill, I got 14L on my saddlebag, and that have generous amount of strap to hold it in place.

  • Anyone used one of these?

    http://www.decathlon.co.uk/quickhiker-ultralight-ii-hiking-tent-grey-id_8245650.html

Looks pretty similar to the Banshee, slightly lighter, smaller pack size, similar bedroom size and some nice features like 2 doors and faster pitch time. Not got the option to pitch one sheet or the other though.
Anyone got any experience with it?

  • 2kg! far from an ultralight tent, what would your max budget be?

  • Ideally looking at around £100 new or secondhand, not too bothered about weight so looking at midrange tents. I'd rather not splash out on a more expensive tent for the sake of weight, budget is looking pretty limited..
