My first "foreign" gig was - against my will, as I was into early Metallica, Black Flag and Minor Threat back then - was... Shakin Stevens in the early 80s :-)

I was all about mike allen on capital radio, finger hovering over the pause button in case a shite song came on, and you recorded it on your precious c90.

Best gig I'd been to was probably Groove Armada, the visuals were excellent along with the beats.

It's not kids' fault, that they're not allowed to buy Evo-Stick anymore

I've been too busy to lurk much this week, just catching up. This thread is fabtastic. Also i'd totally forgotten about the "this is brick lane my friend" thread. I just re-read it and did a massive lol at nimbhus' reply to the offer of "dog turd in a flaming bag?". Belated reps for that. Teens, you are fast acheiving iconic status dude. You're an inspiration.
First gig was Dr Feelgood at Letchworth County Fair in 1990ish? I was about 14, dropped off outside by Mum. Support was John Ottway. It was in a largely ampty marquee and i left to go "down the town" to talk to girls after about two songs of the headliners.
Guns 'n' Roses supported by Faith No More and Soundgarden at Wembley Stadium followed shortly thereafter.
Not cool but true.

I wish I could see the Soundgarden back then. It was the last time I'd feel the part during the gig.
The last one I attended (Keiser Chiefs, The Riffles, Ida Maria) I was there as a guardian, as it was the first one for my 14 yo stepdaughter :-) Gosh, I felt oooold without the skinny jeans and shit. -

Bad luck. My band supported Ida Maria last year. They're such a nice bunch of peeps. She's a really lovely lady. I was quite smit with her.

First for me was Midnight Oil at The Forum, Kentish Town - October 1996. The shame, I waited until I was 22 until I went to a gig. That's Kentish village life for you.

First for me was The Hooters (and a couple of other bands) at a local festival in February 1988, when I was 15. Loved it.

Even less coolly, I've got a feeling mine was either the Manic Street Preachers or the Prodigy, both at the UEA, around 1992 if I'm remembering anything rightly; they were within a few weeks of each other. I never really liked either of them at all. The MSP's had just released Motorcycle Emptiness I think. At the Prodigy gig, Leroy the dancer pulled me up on stage and I had to dance. I was also about 14, the massive paedo. I'd taken half an 'ectasy' tablet that was blatantly aspirin. It did absolutely nothing to mitigate the humiliation.
My Dad picked me up.
