• yes yes thanks muchly for the ride
    now to zzzzzzzzzzzzzz

  • Nice to see you, to see you...

    Good game, good game...

Nice to see everyone and meet some new peeps. Fun ride, interesting view of another aspect of London's famous London after dark. Nice. Weather was kind too.

And topped off with a hot salt beef beigel, a nice cuppa tea, a fag and a swig of brandy... sorry, cognac... from the old hipflask. Poifect.

Another top ride John. Looking forward to the re-run extended mix.

  • Sorry to loose Tim at some point and whoever else was lost.

  • Great ride!

  • all,

nice to meet you and good ride - highlight was riding round the skywalks at Barbican...rotherhithe tunnel was 'special' too.

    Mickey (banana)

    +1

I loved that section, despite the slipery floor. Also loved the Rotherhide tunnel (?) well the downhill bit anyway.

Top work john, cheers for not canceling

  • Stopped at red light and lost the group FAIL.

Crispin! we were wondering where the hell you went to!!!!

Great night, loved the part in the city and the slippery surfaces in the Barbican... top ride John!

  • I was trying to keep together the main group and the two behind me, but we got too stretched out, and I didn't memorise the route. GAH.

No, our fail for losing you. I had a feeling around King William Street that we'd lost some people but stupidly didn't act on it.

  • Ah no probs, one thing last night did reveal was that by raising my saddle by 10mm, the whole bike feels amazing. Looking forward to the next Brighton By Night Ride.

    Oh yeah.

  • It was either this or Corney's drinks, I chose tha latter and had a great time but now I have ride envy after reading all the positive posts above. You guys were properly lucky with the weather last night too.

  • Barbican highwalk is a brilliant!.... so sad to have missed this

  • Greetings folks,
Thanks a lot to the 10 or so who turned up for this one in such awful weather.
Thanks for your pm John - er this is what happened to me....
We were up on that high bit above Barbican and I was at the back. I accelerated to catch up and I don't know if it was just me but I found up there incredibly slippery.... Well I crashed trying to catch the tall lad at the back. By the time I got myself together, you were all gone. I asked a few people if they had seen cyclists but to no avail.
So I cycled up top for a bit looking out over the edges but hey - so it goes.
I went to street level then headed home along London Wall.
Feeling battered and bruised, but these things will heal.
Bike making lots of creaking noises on way home. Looked at it yesterday and waterbottle cage and one of its bolts broken and back wheel not too happy. Off bike until get it checked over and hip stops aching.
Your chance for a good laugh at my expense here - when I got home and took off my kit, I noticed that I had dog shit all over my bag, shorts, coat and shoes - mmnn nice.
So shit happens, but give thanks anyway for a lovely ride.
    Peace and Love,
    Tim

  • Now that is a story for the "crashes in microsoft paint" thread or whatever it was called

Heal up tim. Make sure your kit is clean for the next bridges ride!

  • Hey Tim, as I understood it there was you and one other behind me, perhaps I'm wrong and it was just you. I also got lost after the Barbican, but didn't know about your crash; I must have been a couple of corners ahead of you, but now that I think of it I do recall a crashing sound, but I assumed it was just the sound of London by night!

I'm off to save some numbers into my phone.

  • Sorry to hear that, Tim, especially about the dogshit, how annoying! Hope you get the bike and yourself sorted quickly.

  • Glad you guys chose the truncated route in the end because it worked out quite well.
Relaxed place with some interesting views and blasts of speed every now and again.
    See you next ride.

Sorry to hear that, Tim. The last glimpse I had of you, you had stopped to adjust your "sainsburys hat".

Hope the bike, and more importantly you, have no serious damage.

That surface was WELL slippery. I have got skinny tyres and they were pumped up to about 120 psi. I would feel them slide, then lock into a new groove on those groovey tiles.

You back on your bike yet?

  • Give thanks Joe.

    Situation is as follows
I'm feeling much better, and well on the mend.
Bike = broken rear axle, it's on order at Brixton Cycles and should hopefully be here early next week.Oyster card purchased and now using the tube to get around.

    Shituation is as follows
All kit including 'sainsbury hat' now spotlessly clean.

It is funny, I was gutted when I knew my lovely bike was bust -it is the only one I have. But there is nothing I can do except be patient and look forward to getting back on the road. In meantime on extra health kick - yoga, drinking lots of water, good food and good vibes.

    Thanks again...

Peace and Love to one and all,
    Tim

  • Sorry to hear your tale Tim, it was very slippery, that must have been some fall to snap a axle, heal up well.

  • Greetings folks,
My bike is now mended and I am going to pick it up again from Brixton Cycles shortly.
    I love a happy ending....
Peace and Love to one and all,
    Tim

  • Great news. Lovely weather for a ride today too.

    Enjoy your bike!
