Changed the list... sorted by start time. Looks like I've got the longest coldest night ahead of me, but at least I can just stay awake for it easily enough.

balmain, how strict are the Swedes on their silly rules about reflectors?
For those that haven't read it on the site, they supposedly require white front, red rear and amber on the sides (but not on the wheels cos that's apparently dangerous in the event of them flying off into people's jugulars as they are obviously prone to doing).

Brun - I just ignored the reflector rule and as far as I could see so did everyone else so I wouldn't worry about it. They do force feed you gherkins and a strange concoction which appears to be hot blueberry soup at every food stop though.

Are you named after the clothing brand or the suburb of Sydney?

We've had this conversation before - I'll opt for clothing this time to make a change.

Er? You're starting after him. Or do you mean catching up on tiredness?

I've no idea about how tough the organisers will be to check this, but from a legality point of view it's like here: it's required but no one really cares. But the rozzers can give you a hard time about it should they want to, but why would they

Just realised that this is only about a month away and I need to sort my travel plans.
I was planning to fly over with Spins and share a car rental and hotel just outside Motala, but as he is out with a cnuted knee, I thought I would ask if anyone else needs to arrange last minute travel plans as well, such that the cost can be spread a bit.
My plan is to fly to Skavsta on Thursday 17th, rent a car, stay just outside Motala (Have a twin room in a hotel booked from Thursday to Sunday) and then fly back Sunday night.
Any ideas let me know........

Its getting close guys.
Just been to the shops to stock up on random energy products, gels, bars etc, in an effort to convince myself that I am prepared.
Time to develop an obsession with the weather in rural Sweden in order to decide what kit to take.

I'm out.
I haven't done any prep, have no travel sorted and just neglected everything whilst I slogged for my exams. Oh well, perhaps next year.
-
• #67
Oh, and if anyone wants to turn up and pretend they're me... perfectly fine by me.
-
• #68
Just so you know start times sell for £40ish in sweden, if there's no takers here of course
-
• #69
Today? Tonight? Good luck...

Hope it goes well, Sasmon!

10 hours 55 mins inluding stops, 10.12 rolling time. 18mph average. 183 miles is a long way

• #72
Awesome, sasmon. I doubt Jody Scheckter's top speed at the Smithfield Nocturne got even close to your average! Any word from Des?
-
• #73
I bumped into Des on Friday afternoon near the registration tent, but he had an earlier start
time, and I didn't manage to find him at the finish. -
• #74
whats the go here?
report please Joe Smith or someone please, lets hear all about the ride,
the place and the Blabar soup, -
• #75
blåbär soup.... i'd love some now
Ian reminded me to book when he did his, so I booked about 20 minutes after him I think, so I guess its not quite a coincidence.
I get the impression that there is a bit of flexibility as to the start times on the day, so if a bunch of people want to set off in a forum peloton, there may be some scope to do that.
