BUY EURO's ! it'll soon be at par with £

Smile is run by the Co Op and isn't a terrible bank. Personally I find the security measures they've put in place (using weird little calculator things to validate your bank transfers) a pain in teh arse, but they are ethical.
Reading the news about Goldman Sachs has got me a little bit angry. I know I don't have much cash, but I'm starting to think that I don't want it resting in a large bank.
Where can I put it where the profits will go somewhere other than banker's pockets? I'm not really talking about ethical accounts - I use those, but that just means the investments aren't in arms/sweat shops etc.
What I want is some kind of cooperative, cut out the middle man and stop lining the pockets of bankers. Is this possible? If so, please tell me how. Maybe we can all do it.
