As Kboy said, get something that protects the camera for sure, mine smashed too, shit design, its the first thing that comes into contact with anything its placed on, aint going to end well... Now I need a new Mac to play games on as bootcamps fucked on mine, chop chop Apple, this is next level faffing... (reg the post questioning CPU power improvements - they are minimal but GPU could be considerate as well as other features).

I wonder if the coming 13" MBPs will have GPU.
(Not sure what I'm talking about) -
• #9779
Very unlikely as currently only the very top end 15 and the big iMacs do.

Just had a look at the Lifeproof cases and they seem decent, fully enclosed cased and waterproof.

Does anyone know what the deal with damaged macbook chargers (older style)? The white rubber has begun to split on mine towards the end that connects to the laptop. I bought it in March of last year from John Lewis (on sale for £40).
Should I return it to John lewis or Apple? Will it be a straight swap?

John Lewis, you got two years warranty with them (I think).

I switched back to iPhone form my Nexus 5X yesterday, with a black 128GB iPhone 7.
The difference is night and day ... the hardware is lush, and the setup process porting from android was very very well done. Everything just feels 'better'.
Truly magical moment using the copy/paste between a Mac and your iPhone too. I work in tech and love it when stuff makes me think its magic.

Humblebrag :)
I made the same switch, sort of, 6 months ago from a nexus 5 to a 6s and basically everything you said.

You guys are nuts...
So should I upgrade to Sierra? Is it gonna screw Adobe? I'm assuming Logic will be fine as it's Apple software anyway... Late 2011 MBP... Is it gonna give me a speed bump or slow things down?
-
• #9786
It didn't break anything for me. Which version of logic you using?
No noticeable effect on speed - using same machine as you.

• #9787
Logic 10.2.3... That's cool, I'll give it a go then...

I tried returning the charger to John Lewis and they wouldn't accept it as they claim it is due to 'wear and tear' and 'looks like it has been cut accidentally'.
The charger has never left the house and has always been used at a desk.

Try the Apple store, if they tell you to piss off use some Sugru...

I would send a letter of complaint to John Lewis saying you were not impressed with being accused of intentionally damaging the faulty product they sold you and highlight how common this exact issue is by pointing them at any number of these images online...
-
• #9791
Just after posting on here I actually sent John Lewis an email with the exact points you said. I included a link to the apple charger on their own website were people have left negative reviews due to having the same cable fraying issue.

Since upgrading to Sierra I have an issue with iMessage, which was previously working fine. I can send messages via my MacBook, but it isn't receiving them anymore.
Messages I send via my mac don't appear on contacts phones as an normal message from me anymore, but as from me@icloud.com.
There is supposed to be an option within the iPhone settings about text message forwarding, but it isn't where the apple support page says it should be. -

Bought myself some pointless vintage apple hardware. A BNIB 3rd gen iPod shuffle (lol!). It is a thing of beauty. So ahead of it's time. No physical buttons, one port, voice assistant. can't listen to music and charge at the same time. Basically an iPhone 7 before the iPhone 7.

Messages settings. Look under accounts and make sure it's set to start new conversations from your phone number at the bottom instead of your email.

Eh? Doesn't it have the old 30 pin connector and a headphone output?
Still got a 1st gen that works fine! Doesn't even have volume buttons...

Yep, its set for phone number, but not working properly.
The whole machine is acting weird. I've lost all of the stuff on my desktop. I just have the bars at the top and bottom, and the wallpaper. -
