Ouch! I'd recommend you didn't turn it on at all and dry it out for a few days... You might fry your motherboard...
I didn't... And I did... :(

Got applecare? Two people I know have had the first 'idiot's repair' done free because they spilt something. Both times it was keyboard replacements, though one had to pay a little extra for some other part.
Don't known if it's official policy, but it can happen.

Got a 2010 mac mini server at a bargain price a few weeks ago and upgraded it to mountain lion, it works really nice decided to install it on my late 2009 macbook (2.3ghz, 2gb, ran snow leopard really nicely) which I'm really regretting now, it boots and runs slow as fuck.
Spotlight has finished indexing,I repaired disk permissions, killed dashboard and notification centre and it got a bit better but not nearly as useable as it was with SN, is there any other tricks people have heard about so I can get it useable before I downgrade?
Also I just discovered spotifree, much better at blocking spotify ads than smutefy!

Can't you go back to a previous backup in Time Machine, Shane?

Yarp I have a backup ready that I did before install to go back to but wanted to check if there was anything else I could do before I gave up on 10.8 for the macbook.

Just a question out of curiosity, who actually owns one of the new mac pro's? one of those black cylinder things?
When the G5 mac pro came out it was absolutely everywhere, everyone seemed to have one from music people to graphic designers. But I have never even seen one of these ones in real life and cannot imagine who would get one.

Theyre not out yet

So, * somebody* spilt coffee on my macbook. now when its turned on it only boots into safe mode, i think cos the shift keys stuck on. I can't get further than the login screen as the password is case sensitive. I guess I'll need to take it apart and clean it?
If you decide it actually needs repairing, I know a guy who specialises in mac repairs.
From what I hear, the apple store turn away anything that is liquid damage.

Haha, you are right!!!
I saw them on the apple website months ago, and assumed therefore they were out months ago.

Haha, and you are wrong!!!

..everyone - from music people to graphic designers!

Not to mention it will be fast as fuck too, it will eat anything you throw at it. Although at the price it'll be you'd expect it!

I've just made a hardware replacement costing for the studios at work, having to guess at £2000 until 22nd when they're released.
It's a shame the current 6 year old Pros are working so well...

Update all software, esp anything from Adobe, that should slow things down a bit

...apart from internal upgrades.
Why Apple persist in building throwaway 'professional' computers is beyond me. The G5 / Mac Pro could have had a master framework that supported near-infinite upgrade options. Instead, there lies a trail of awkward old machines with an infuriating amount of built-in obsolescence. I stopped upgrading my OS at 10.6.8 because I know my Mac Pro works. It does what I bought it to do, and through proper maintenance it's still fast.Regarding the new Mac Pro:
Cue the usual 'you're doing it wrong / you need what we say you need' shit from some Cupertino cunt:
As former Apple ad exec Ken Segall put it, *“pro users have not been forgotten at Apple—they’re just being redefined.” *Top-tier music and video folk will go nuts over it, and I expect my Dentist to treat me to a slideshow of pics of his new Cervelo on one whenever it's finally released. Most Graphic Designers and Photographers I know will continue to chug away on MBPs and iMacs.

I totally agree, this path they have went down is a shambles and money grabbing into the bargain.
I've got 2010 iMac and 2010 Macbook both I can upgrade Ram/Hard drives easily. Now if you buy a mac you have to spec it max out at time of purchase. Therefore paying over the top prices for ram and stuff because apple think its a good idea to solder things to logic boards and what not.
I wont be changing anything anytime soon either, and as you've said I'll continue to chug along with what I have....

quick mac pro question, I'd like to upgrade my 2007/8 model, so am hoping to grab a 2012/13 model that someone has souped up, once the black rubbish bin one goes live.
Any places I should be looking/scouring?
