My cat managed to send a (nonsensical) email once - to 800 people :/
Spammy kitty.

I have an Ipod Classic (120gb)
Recently it has been refusing to play songs.
I tend to have it on Shuffle All (~5000 songs) after playing a couple, it stops at the begining of a new track.
Turned shuffle off and played an album and it still froze after a few songs.Am I facing a HD failure in the near future?

^ Presumably you have it all backed up somewhere just in case?

Well... half the music came from my old lappy which died unceremoniously, so I lost a few thousand songs (cd rips which I then got rid of the physical media)

BTFU. Now.

Try booting it in disc mode, connecting it up and using Music Rescue to get the tracks off it
If that works you could try a restore and sync them again, and see if that fixes it.
And from now on sync your entire collection so that it's all backed up on the computer.

Unless I'm missing something, there's not an owl or sugar skull to be seen!?
Disappoint. -

I know. Couldn't find anything suitable. Can pimp it up myself though!

Am looking at updating my old Mac book Pro and keen for some advice on whether I should go the Air route or wait for the new Mac book Pro. Was initially not taken with the Air due to the smaller hard drive (needed for large music collection) but am using Google Music now so this isn't quite so important now. What is a concern is a difference in price performance/spec. I don't do any video editing but heavy user of the Web with fan generally going to overdrive and keen to future proof my purchase. Advice on whether I should buy now or hold out for MBP gratefully received

For browsing, i'd go with Air. If you do any photo editing / heavy work / need disk space / I'd wait for MBP

get a MB Air. perfect for riding and travelling. Powerful enough. ONLY if you really want to future proof for a while get one with 8gb. You can also increase the Flash Storage. Your choice but not necessary as the future is Cloud based services.

Def get 8gb of ram. If you need to do any kind of work, 8 instead of 4 will make a huge difference

Ssd in the air will make it faster than a pro for what you use it for. Ssds are a different world.

Actually I thought it was impressive that it can take quite a beating.

Time for a new external hdd. I know I should get the G-drives, but wallet doesn't allow it. On the other end of the scale there's this:
Cheapest 3TB I can find. The idea is to get one this month, and another next month, to have data redundancy between the two. Then a proper time machine for daily backups as well.
Or any other ideas that doesn't break the bank?

I was gonna suggest 2TB at £75 but that is crazy value, Im gonna get a couple of them myself.

Or is seagate notoriously bad? I've had cheap WD drives for years with zero problems so tempted to stick with that, but they're £20 more. Small monies compared to the value they'll hold, but if it's like for like, why not save a bit.
What on earth did I just watch? It looks like a trailer for another hangover film.
