  • i can't believe the the pc/android market hasn't managed to bring out a rival device yet.
if they have then nobody is buying them*

    *i don't know anyone sad/geeky enough.

Because there isn't a market yet .. only Apple fanbois are going for them. Most people go home after sorting out their Excel spreadsheets/Word Docs and cook dinner and stuff rather than slag off Microsoft Software for the sake of it ...

  • You mean like how you slag off Brooks saddle?

  • binatone homesurf?
£99 so really cheap, you could buy 4 of these instead of one of those shitty i-pads

I'm sensing irony. It's quite orange!

  • "Because of my VAT status I have to spend over £2K to get my VAT back"

what vat scheme is that? sounds a bit odd for a sole trader?

  • i wouldn't buy the shiny apple screen it's overpriced and very shiny. just buy from a proper shop that sells new macs and decent screens.

I can't answer your question as I don't know much about all that stuff, but I was speaking to friend yesterday about meeting up with him to go and help him buy a Mac (he doesn't have a clue so I have walk him through why he might want a fast external FW800 drive for editing and why RAM is worth investing in . . etc).

Anyhow, he said the very same thing, that he needs to make sure the Mac comes to over £2k to get the VAT back, so there must be something in it.

  • or they both have the same accountant.

I've seen one of these in the flesh (or moudled plastic) and they are nasty, cheaply made, the feel of the touch screen and OS is clunky and they look horrible, even more so than in the picture.

Look at your bike, go to it right now and take a look, now listen to me, you don't need that bike, you can get a secondhand 'Create' for a quarter of the price.

  • or they both have the same accountant.

    Ol' Tony "2k" Watson ?

  • it will be some flat rate scheme. seems a bit odd for a small business.

  • Before I post up a wanted does anyone have a Wacom Intuos3 A5 tablet, with pen, that they are looking to get rid of. I've had a go on the newest version but can't afford to shell out for it.
If you've got one and want to get rid let me know.

  • anyone use vnc or remote desktop to control their mac with the iphone/ipad? what apps do you use?

  • sure. 14.79 million apple fanboys.

I would believe in 14.79 million apple fanboys ... no problem. There are no shortage of them.

    fanboys, he he he

the flat rate was designed for certain types of small business, i thought.

but don't ask me to explain it.

  • Anyone interested in a Mac Pro? I've got one that is turning into a bit of a PITA to recycle through Apple and I don't want to go to eBay.

It was bought in 2007 and I'm looking to sell it as I have a new model.

    Specs
Two 2.66 GHz Dual-Core Intel Xeon processors
Two 500GB 7200-rpm Serial ATA 3Gb/s Hard drives
    16x Superdrive
    2GB (4x512MB)
    ATI Radeon X1900 XT 512 MB (2 x dual - link DVI)

It's in good nick and works like a champ. Looking for £550.

  • i'm not, but I know someone at work who said he was, will give him a text.

  • Cheers. Will come with Snow Leopard, hard drive cleaned of porn etc.

  • How much extra would it be to leave porn on there?

  • I have a little annoyance if someone can help me with it I would be grateful .
In work I use a iMac (running 10.6.6) with the apple wireless keyboard, when ever I press command, shift or FN for longer than about a second they stay turned on till your press them again and turn them off. The logo for the pressed key also comes up in the top right of the screen.
I suspect this is to do with the fact that its a wireless keyboard and apple felt it necessary to have a indicator that its still connected via bluetooth.
I'm really starting to get annoyed by it now is there anyway I can turn it off?

  • Spoke to the chap in question this morning D and he got a brand new one last weekend. Cheers though.

  • No problem, thanks for letting me know.

  • Is that not sticky keys spotter?

(in accessibility >keyboard in system prefs?)
