Could you 'accidentally' spill some hot coffee/tea over it?

I really can't get my head around this whole discussion.
It's a work machine. Some things aren't great, some processes are a pain.
It's a good thing to repair rather than replace. I mean, in general. Y'know, in terms of planetary resources and all that.
Sabotaging high-end tech just seems kind of fucked up (to me). -

Have to agree with Hoefla. However, if you are determined, why not take it down to one of the workshops and run it through a bandsaw?
"I'm so sorry, I was just talking to a student and slipped, there was nothing I could do".

i.e. stop fucking about and do a proper job.

It's the biggest first world problem I can imagine... Totally bonkers if you ask me, always on the make that one...

Yep. Getting on to 5 years of life on my laptop, can't understand the desire to get something new.
(Might also be because I still feel guilty for spilling coffee on a uni mates Laptop a month before the end of our degree which wasn't a pretty sight)

You monster

Amazingly it was actually fine, but I didn't want to bring that up as it undermined the sentiment, but actually it's probably pretty helpful in supporting my point

can't get my head around this
they want the new shiny thing

I have the 5K one if that's of interest?
-
• #14538
Going to be using it with an iPad Pro so 5K would be overkill. Thanks though.

Classic! I had the generation after. Still miss that machine, so many nice touches in the design

My mum had that model. So many hours playing Grag and Thog Bonkheads, Battle Tanks etc. etc.

I loved mine (first wave, 2015 (m3?)/1.3ghz/256GB/8GB, and looking to replace it after an unfortunate incident I just couldn't bring myself to spend the money on the outdated hardware despite it being exactly the right form factor/weight/etc. A new Air i5 air can be had for the same price as a refurbed i5 12, and with more control over the specs than the refurbished-roulette of the 12 (rose gold can >>>) so it's what I'm reluctantly considering.

I spend a lot of time standing, with my Mac balanced on my left hand, presenting- typically around an hour to an hour and a half at a time, often twice per day and sometimes more.
My 13” MBP is ok for this, but something lighter would be better.
I’m typically using a mixture of PowerPoint and a web based application that has to run through a VPN, so not running solid works, but it has to be very fast at the three tasks I usually require of it.
Is the MacBook going to be better or worse than my MBP?

I’m feeling for your left hand/arm/shoulder. Could an iPad Pro 11” run those three tasks for this scenario?
-

I also read and write a lot of emails, so a proper keyboard is required.

Sounds like a surface/surface laptop, etc would do the job.

If you don't mind a non-Retina screen, an 11-inch MacBook Air has a better keyboard, better connectivity and a faster CPU, and weighs about the same.
(And it'd have to be secondhand - they stopped making them in 2016)
If anyone spots one of the older 21.5 inch LG Ultrafine 4K monitors for sale anywhere, then please do slide into my DMs.
